On Saturday, Sept. 21, Mariachi Aztlán will be a part of the August to April Series, in celebration of Mexican Independence Day. This national award-winning mariachi ensemble hails from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Tickets are available for purchase at festivalhill.org. Live and Local

There are always several great music acts throughout the weekend in Round Top. This weekend at Busted Oak Cellars you can catch Erik Flores on Saturday, Sept. 7, and Mitch Marcoulier Sunday, Sept. 8. Thursday, Sept. 12 is Trivia from 6-8 p.m., followed by live music once again on Saturday and Sunday. Chamber Social 

The monthly Chamber Social is held the second Thursday of each month. This month’s social will be held Thursday, Sept. 12 from 5-7 p.m. at Rustic Barn Retreats, located at 7794 Gebhard Road in Round Top. Visit exploreroundtop. com for more information.

The Red Door Fund 

Thursday, Sept. 19, support The Red Door Fund for Mental Health, a Fayette Community Foundation. Join the community for an evening of wine and conversation. You’ll learn more about this group, as well as meet other local organizations working to address the mental health needs of our community. Come see how you can help and make a difference for others in our rural region. The evening will feature Caymus Vineyards Wine and will take place at The Compound. Rock the Halls 

The third annual “Rock the Halls” event will be held at the Round Top Dance Hall Saturday, Sept. 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Performers from Howl at the Moon will serenade guests with all of the best party hits. This live dueling piano show is one you don’t want to miss – and it’s all in support of the Ride to End Alzheimer’s, Round Top Family Library, and the Round Top Area Historical Society. Round Top-Carmine ISD The September FFAChapter meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 9. Sports pictures and Fall makeups are Sept. 19. Students have an early release on Friday, Sept. 20. Parents, report cards will be sent home and posted to the ParentPortal Thursday, Sept. 26.

The Monday Night Hamburger Social takes place the first, second, and third Monday of each month beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Schutzenfest 

The community celebration for Schutzenfest will be Sunday, Sept. 15. Hall doors open at 3 p.m., followed by live music by the Round Top Brass Band at 4 p.m. The new “Koenig” will be crowned at 5 p.m., along with the ceremonial keg tapping. Enjoy a free dance from 5:30-8 p.m., with music by Gary Kunkel and Friends. A chicken fried steak meal will follow at 6 p.m.

Oktobierfest

Church News 

The Bethlehem Lutheran Church Council will meet Sept. 8 following the service. The Sewing Circle will meet in the Educational Building Tuesday, Sept. 10. The Western Cluster Fall Gathering will be Saturday, Sept. 28 at St. John’s in Warrenton. Confirmation students meet Wednesdays at 4:15 p.m.

Mass at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Warrenton are held the first Tuesday of the month at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the Altar. More information can be found at stjohnfayetteville.com/st-martin. Celebrations
