A reminder that FISD students are back in school this coming Monday. For residents (non-students) who have enjoyed spending time on the school track, holding yoga classes and stretching out on the bleachers this summer, these activities will no longer be allowed.

ParentSquare was introduced by FISD this summer to serve as a new messaging system for parents. School communications are received either through the app or by email and text.

The FISD administration would like to thank the Parent Teacher Club (PTC) officers for supporting their students and staff. They paid for student field trips and purchased the following items:

• School supplies for all FISD students

• Wish list items for the FISD staff

• Breakfast and lunches for the staff Mark your calendar now for Oct. 27 and come support the FISD PTC at the annual Harvest Carnival. Together, we can make things happen for our great school and community. Once a Lion always a Lion!

A big welcome to Robin Wright, who will be teaching second and third grade and Stacy Hejl who is joining the cafeteria staff.

City News

The City of Fayetteville is considering the use of an emergency early warning system so residents may be notified of severe weather or emergencies regarding cityrelated systems (water or sewer).

A new Hotel Occupancy Tax application form can be found on the City’s website. Look for Lodging Business HOT Application. The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has updated their application for EDC funds. Look for FEDC Grant Application. https://www.fayetteville. texas.gov

Just so you know, unfortunately, the City does not receive notifications from the Department of Transportation prior to any road work being performed in our town.

New Signs

Be on the lookout for some sweet signage around town. New signs designating Fayetteville as a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places will soon be installed in five locations.

Picking Park

A group of bluegrass enthusiasts are pickin’ again this Saturday in the square. All levels of pickers are welcome to continue the tradition of live, acoustic bluegrass jamming. Play begins between 2-3 p.m.

The book, “William Bollaerts Texas,” remains one of the most important sources of information on the Republic of Texas. The Englishman presents a great picture of social life in Texas on the event of annexation. He wrote about the animals, the people and the flora and fauna observed in his travels to Galveston and out to the Hill Country from 1841 to 1845. Many thanks to Mayor Mike for the recommendation.
