The next City Council meeting is this Monday at 7 p.m. in the City offices. City Council meetings are held every third Monday of the month.

Plans are in place for the City of Fayetteville to use $3 million awarded by the Texas General Land Office for water and sewer infrastructure improvements. “We’ll be replacing our water lines and valves and finishing up our aerator system at the sewer plant,” commented Mayor Stroup. “Bids for the project are going out now. We’re anticipating the work will begin late this year. Residents will be informed of the progress in Town Hall meetings.”

Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department Fire and EMS Call report for February: Feb. 4, Grass fire on FM 955 at Wecheta Rd.

Feb. 13, First responder call to assist Medic 2, Medic 6, and EMS 3 on Market St. at Church St.

Feb. 23, Structure fire on St. Hwy. 159 at the Fayetteville Y.

Easter Egg Hunt 

Word around town is that the Easter Bunny is popping into the Fayetteville Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on the Square, Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m. Look for a bounce house and enjoy hot dogs, drinks, snow cones, prizes and sweet surprises. Free will donations and bake sale items are appreciated. Call Sue Patterson at (714) 299-0281 to contribute.

Texas Exes Supply Drive 

The Fayette County Texas Exes will be hosting a supply drive during the month of March to support the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter.

They are asking for donations of the following items: bleach, window cleaner, disinfectant wipes, latex gloves, 409/Lysol disinfectant cleaner, paper towels, 35-gallon trash bags, 55-gallon heavy-duty (2 mil) trash bags, puppy pads, copy paper, Post-it notes, dry erase markers, and Sharpies.

Donations can be dropped off at Joe‘s Place, Orsak’s and Roots and Branches in the Square.

Fayetteville Museum 

Explore Fayetteville’s history at the Fayetteville Museum, open every Tuesday in March before the live music on the Square. The museum undergoes continual improvements so donations are always welcome.

Checks may be made to Fayetteville Museum and sent to P.O. Box 67, Fayetteville, 78940. Call Bob McGowen to open the museum at any time at (832) 904-6290. Volunteers are always welcome to help extend visiting hours.

Spring Chicken Dinner Save the date for a Spring Chicken Dinner coming to town on Wednesday, April 22 from 5-6:30 p.m. courtesy of St. Paul Lutheran. Pick up lots of raffle tickets for a chance to win gift cards from all over the place.

Tickets are also available at Orsak’s, Cadence Bank in Fayetteville, Columbus MetaI in Columbus, the Shared Lutheran Ministry office in Warrenton and from St Paul Lutheran members (Fayetteville). Now taking Venmo and Zelle.

Picking Park 

Listen to a talented group of bluegrass musicians that pick and sing at Picking Park on the Square this Saturday. They get together the second Saturday of each month from January-November. The music flows from 2 p.m. until everyone’s ready to hang it up.

St. Paul Lutheran 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four Shared Lutheran Ministry churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. Services are also featured on KTIM 89.1 Sundays at noon.

St. John the Baptist Catholic St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.

Fayetteville Brethren 

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
