    Fayetteville to Hold Special Election

The City of Fayetteville is holding a special election to reauthorize the road tax. Road upkeep and repairs are funded by a quarter of one percent of the City sales tax. Early voting in the City offices takes place beginning April 22.

The public restrooms on the square are closed for renovations during the month of April. Temporary portable restrooms are available.

Please note that all dogs must be leashed or confined by a fence in compliance with the City of Fayetteville’s leash ordinance. Dogs must be kept on a leash on all City property. This includes city streets, the road to the cemetery and the cemetery property.

Fishing Tourney 

The Annual FISD Fishing Tournament held by Fayetteville FFA is April 26 and 27. They are seeking sponsors. Contact Mrs. Janish (Pre-K) for any information.

MS 150 

The 2024 Bike MS: Texas MS 150 is scheduled to roll through this town on April 27. Please make everyone feel welcome.

Summertime Classic 

The Good Old Summertime Classic Bike Ride is seeking to work with a new nonprofit organization and will not be held this year in June. This historical event has been a part of Fayetteville for 26 years. If an organization is interested in helping to organize this ride in September or next year, please contact Bob McCowen at (832) 904-6290.

Flag disposal 

A bright red, blue and yellow container has been placed in front of the Fayetteville Museum for anyone wishing to have their U.S. and Texas flags discarded honorably by our local American Legion Post 602.

Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department Fire and EMS Call Report for March:

• March 8, Reported brush pile fire out of control on St. Hwy 159 and CH Allen Rd.

• March 25, First responder call assist Medic 2 on FM 2503 at Ross Prairie Church Rd.

• March 26, Fire alarm on State Hwy. 159 at Columbus Hall Ln.

• March 28, CPR andAED Certification Training.

ARTS 

Everyone is invited to ARTS artists’ reception and exhibition entitled Splash of Color this Saturday, April 20, from 4-6 p.m. This enticing exhibit will feature watercolor paintings by local artist Mary Quiros, and her students: Kathy Callaway, Martha Jane Dennis, Kathy Griffith, Judy Elias Hill, Darcia Mucha, Kathy Sauer, Arna Schabloski and Bernie Scott.

Chicken dinner 

St. Paul Lutheran is serving up their spring chicken dinner on Wednesday, April 24 from 4:30-6 p.m. Tickets are $12 each. The drive-through meal includes one-half of a BBQ chicken, buttered potatoes and pinto beans by Peter’s BBQ.

Bake Sale 

Enjoy homemade baked goodies from WELCA(Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). This is their annual spring fundraiser benefitting church renovation projects. Contact Betty at (979) 733-4513 or Ruth at (979) 966-3915 for tickets.

Church News 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four Shared Lutheran Ministry churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. Services are also featured on KTIM 89.1 Sundays at noon.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
