Fayetteville Farmers Market this Saturday

In his capacity as mayor pro tem, City Councilman Kelly Brooks presided over the City of Fayetteville last week and the City Council meeting on Monday. Due to personal family issues, Mayor Stroup was out of the office.

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan 20, the following will be closed: City of Fayetteville offices, the office of the Justice of the Peace, Fayetteville Bank and the post office.

Farmer’s Market 

This Saturday, shop the farmer’s market, donate blood, view an exhibit of colorful pastel drawings and end the night at Heh! Remember When.

Stop by the Fayetteville Farmer’s Market in the square this Saturday from 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Browse the locally sourced products brought to you by local artists and craftspeople. Blood Drive

Schedule a time to donate blood at the semi-annual Fayetteville Community Blood Drive in front of the old fire station on the square this Saturday from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. To schedule, contact Jonathan Noska at (979) 966-9569.

Donating blood helps save lives and the need is great. The blood drive is held by the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and is sponsored by the Fayetteville/ Ellinger Knights of Columbus.

Fruits of the Spirit Exhibit The exhibition, “Fruits of the Spirit,” will feature artist and native Houstonian Julie Howard this Saturday in the ARTS Ross Gallery from 4 - 6 p.m. This exhibition highlights Howard’s breathtaking hyperrealistic works, crafted using pastels handmade with organic ingredients.

If you miss the opening reception, the exhibit will run through Saturday, March 1.

Heh! Remember When Join the Airplane Band musicians Mason Dykowski, Alvin Minarcik, Franklin Hruska, and Josh Gertson for some country, rock, blues, Czech, German, and Cajun tunes this Saturday from 7:30 - 11 p.m. at Heh! Remember When.

CDA 

Every year in December, each member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) No. 1440 contribute five to six dozen cookies for this worthy cause. The project leader, Barbara Castillo, provides fruit and packaging. Boxes are filled and delivered to area shut-ins and nursing homes in La Grange, Columbus and Giddings.

Food Truck 

The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church from 10 - 11 a.m. this Saturday. Drive-thru only. Backseats, trunks and truck beds need to be cleared out to make room for the bags and boxes of food. Volunteers are always appreciated.

Celebrations 

Happy Birthday wishes are extended to: Jim Schmitt-18; Maurine Schley-19; Sadie Tiemann and Jaxson Tiemann-20; Joe Coufal, Jr., Julie Korenek- 21; Emily Warren-22.

Fayetteville Brethren 

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.

St. Paul Lutheran Church 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four Shared Lutheran Ministry churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. Services are also featured on KTIM 89.1 Sundays at noon.

St. John the Baptist Catholic St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.
