City Council

In the last City Council meeting, after extensive discussion, four City Council members voted in favor of the Fayetteville Community Center Group dismantling and rebuilding the E.J. Knesek building, with one abstention.

Resident John Heimsath stated, “The community of Fayetteville will definitely benefit from a completed multi- million-dollar project on the corner of the square. That it is at the expense of a historic treasure saddens me.”

Lake Fayette

Did you know event space is for rent at Lake Fayette? It’s $47.70 for an all-day event. In addition, each attendee aged 14 to 64 pays $7, and if 65 years of age or older, it’s $5. Call (979) 249-3344 to reserve.

Recipe

Many thanks to Roman White for this recipe:

Double Chocolate Decadence Cookies

Ingredients: 1 cup softened butter 1 cup sugar 1 cup brown sugar 2 large eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt Fold into butter mixture 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 whole package (1012oz) dark chocolate or semisweet chocolate chips 1 whole package (1012oz) milk chocolate chips Instructions: Preheat oven to 350º Cream butter and sugars together in a large bowl until mixed well Mix vanilla, baking soda and salt together and fold into butter mixture Place rest of the ingredients in the butter mixture Mix on low speed (or by hand) until mixed together well Place cookies on a standard baking sheet using your largest dinner spoon (not a serving spoon) to measure out the dough. Roll each scoop of dough into a ball with your hands before placing on the baking sheet. These are large cookies. Each sheet should contain 3 cookies placed in 3 rows.

Bake at 350º for 20 mins. Makes 27 cookies, or 3 pans of 9. Smaller cookies can be made resulting in 48 cookies, or 4 pans of 12 (3 cookies placed in 4 rows). Bake these for 12 mins.
