EDC Spotlight

The Fayetteville Economic Development Corporation, or FEDC, is a nonprofit corporation set up by the City of Fayetteville to attract and retain business. Currently, there are six board members. “We’re in the middle of our strategic plan which involves identifying potential actions that can be taken to attract new business, in addition to supporting city infrastructure that is essential for a good business environment. We have the ability to award small loans, grants and provide information that may be helpful so they’ll consider Fayetteville as a viable opportunity,” explained EDC president Bob Kurtz. “Some of our previous investments have been made to support our towns’ infrastructure. In the next few months, we’ll begin leveraging the City website to get the word out and this news column to communicate our progress.”

The FEDC board is nominated and approved by the City Council.

There is one opening on the board. The next meeting will be held on June 8 in City Hall at 7 p.m. All are welcome.

Grand Openings

Stop in for the Grand Opening of Bloom & Company located next to the Vintage Rose Market in the square. It will be held this Saturday, June 4, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Owners Jen and Tony Zerrer will offer one-of-a-kind, vintage, and curated line of handmade linen pillows using globally sourced fabrics, bags and loads of other home decor. “Another feature of our store will be DIY flower and wreath workshops too,” stated Jen.

“This is our flagship store. In Southern California, we run pop-up shops and have an online store. It’s going to be so fun to interact more with our customers. We’re very excited to have our first brick-and-mortar store in a beautifullyrestored historic building. And what better place to launch it than in Fayetteville? We believe in small businesses and we love this town.”

The couple also own The Bloom Inn right down the street from the square.

The Velvet Hen is also featuring a Grand Opening next Saturday.

Photography, furniture, jewelry, bath and body products and other home goods are for sale. The shop is owned by Kristina Niewald.
