News

The Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce is serving up their 17th Annual City-Wide Garage Sale this Saturday from 7-11:30 a.m. Be sure and check out the garage sale maps for all locations. The maps are distributed in all kinds of locations throughout the square. For any questions, email info@greaterfayettevillechamber. org.

Stop by the Emergency Sweets Ice Cream and Food Truck that will be parked on the square next to the old firehouse during the garage sale courtesy of St. Paul Lutheran. A covered seating area will be provided.

Full Downtown

All the empty properties on the square are either rented or are being considered for rent or purchase.

Lions Club

The Fayetteville Lions Club installed their new slate of officers on Thursday, June 22. The first order of business was a vote to support The Texas Lions Camp - Children with Disabilities and the AMEN Food Pantry with gifts of $2,000 each.

The Lions Club is still accepting gently used home decor, furniture, tools, toys, games and clothing at the old fire house. Get a head start on early purchases at the preview party held this Friday night from 6 until 8 p.m. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be served, and everyone is invited. A freewill offering of $20 per person is requested (under 21 - free). Please call Sandra Borne at (512) 9713901 to arrange for donations or for more information.

Recommendations

What have you read or what shows have you seen lately? Email any and all recommendations to newsinfayettevllle@ gmail.com. Mayor Mike recommends the book “Hill Country” by Janice Woods Windle. “It’s a firsthand look at Texas politics of the ‘40s, 50s, and ‘60s, from the settling of the Texas Hill Country to Austin, culminating with LBJ. It presents all kinds of life experiences. Her mother killed a rattlesnake in her kitchen with a skillet. The story is derived from a diary she found in her attic.” Grace Frugé highly recommends the movie “80 For Brady.”

Food Pantry

The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will be at St. John on Wednesday, July 12 from 10 to 11 a.m. Volunteers are needed. This will no longer be a drive-thru food distribution. Clients will walk up to the entrance and are asked to bring bags or carts for pickup.

Be Careful

Please refrain from disposing of cigarette butts through the window while driving. They are causing fires in this hot, dry air.
