City Council approved Sandee Wilkinson as City Secretary at the last City Council meeting. A resolution was approved for Fayette County to provide scheduling, equipment, manpower and supervision to make repairs to the streets of Fayetteville during this fiscal year. Read Across America

Fayetteville mayor read to FISD fourth graders on Thursday, March 2 at 10 a.m. A book by Dr. Seuss was selected. FISD has celebrated Read Across America Week by asking students to wear Dr. Seuss-inspired outfits and maroon on playoff days.

Heritage Museum

Last week, the Lion’s Club toured the Fayetteville Area Heritage Museum and admired the artifacts, historical photos, and highly detailed records that captured our town’s history from the very beginning. A few notable displays include a 1965 Chevrolet Bel Air and Teddy Schultz’s Handmade Trains.

The museum, which was founded by Buddy and Irene Polanski, is much larger than it appears from the storefront and is open most Saturdays. if you have any questions or would like to visit another day, call Bob McGowen at (832) 904-6290 or Debbie Pflughaupt at (979) 249-6249 to open the museum. There is no charge, however the museum is only able to stay open with donations, Bible Study

Industry Brethren Church will hold a Bible Study on Tuesday, March 7 at 9 a.m. and at 7 p.m. The study lasts about one hour and is led by Rev. Michael Groseclose. All are welcome. Fayetteville Brethren Church will hold a Lenten service on Wednesday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m. A sandwich supper will follow the service. Everyone is welcome to attend. Regular worship services led by Rev. Michael Groseclose are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday’s at 10 a.m. A Bible Study will be held before the service at 9 a.m.

Meal

Catholic Daughters of American will hold a fundraiser offering a meal to go, bake sale and raffle this Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. John’s Parish Hall.

Food Truck

The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will be at St. John on Wednesday, March 8 from 10 to 11 a.m. This will no longer be a drive-thru food distribution. Clients will walk up to the entrance and are asked to bring bags or carts for pickup.

ARTS

ARTS one-woman show, Blaze of Glory, with the amazing actress Mary Margaret Mann, played to a highly appreciative crowd last Saturday. ARTS will feature expressive, textural cold wax paintings from a variety of talented artists in an opening reception this Saturday from 4-6 p.m. on the Fayetteville square.
