Fayetteville City Offices Closed, Freeze Warning

City offices will be closed Friday, December 23 and Monday, December 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. The Recycling Center/Dump will be closed this Friday.

The city has issued a freeze warning. Freezing weather is expected late Thursday through the Christmas holiday. It is suggested that if you have travel plans, please consider shutting off your water.

City Election

The City’s election is May 6, 2023. Two council seats and the Mayor’s position will be on the ballot. If you are considering or planning on running for one of these positions, information is available at the city office. A reminder that the hours are from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A Notice of the Deadline to File an Application for Place on the Ballot is on the website. fayetteville.texas. gov.

Other Christmas News

Congratulations to winners of the Fayetteville Christmas Tree Display: First Place went to “Plenty-o-Peppermint” by Angela Emshoff and McKenna Walden. Second Place went to “Dreaming of a Wine Christmas” by Martin Payne, Melissa Hardy and Linda Jones.

The FISD National Honor Society thanks everyone who donated toys to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Santa Toy Drive.

Christmas Lights

The rooftops of all buildings in the square are now shining bright with brand new strands of LED lights, thanks to funding from numerous generous donors: building owners and business owners in the square and from grants provided by the Fayetteville Economic Development Corporation and the Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce. Additional donations for the Lighting Project Fund or Courthouse Fund are always welcome and may be given to the City of Fayetteville.

Shopping locally in the final few hectic shopping days before Christmas will save a lot of time and worry about late deliveries.
