There’s a lot going on Veterans Day. The Fayetteville ISD Veterans Day Parade is honoring all who served. Veterans meet at the town square at 8 a.m. this Saturday. FISD Superintendent Dr. Jeff Harvey and Technology Director Mr. Ray Brother, former Marine and retired Air Force, will lead veterans from the town square to the school for the parade.

Veterans Breakfast

All are invited to the Annual Veterans Breakfast held by American Legion Post 602 Shelby from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Saturday morning at 4019 FM-1457 in Shelby. The biscuits with gravy and bacon and eggs are yours for a free will donation. Pork and beef tamales are selling for $8 per dozen. Contact a Shelby Post 602 member to order. If you don’t know anyone, contact Ann at aheint@yahoo.com.

In just a few days, there will be several new food options inside the Fayetteville Store. The gas pumps will be updated soon with the option to use credit and debit cards after hours. There is no charge to use cards at the pump or in the store. “I’m part of a group of proprietors of several stores. We own Lindemann’s in Industry. Some are in Dallas and Groesbeck. We purchased the Fayetteville Store about a month and a half ago,” stated owner Binod Poudel. “We like the location in this beautiful town.”

Picking Park

A group of bluegrass enthusiasts are pickin’ again Saturday in the square. All levels of pickers are welcome to continue the tradition of live, acoustic bluegrass jamming. Play begins between 2-3 p.m.
