Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of March 2024.
Detective Marc Bennett is working numerous cases involving assaults against children. Bennett is also investigation several cases involving fraud which occurred in Fayette County.
Sgt. Ryan Meagher transported a male subject to a behavioral hospital in the Austin area to receive treatment for mental illness. Meagher took a report of harassment which occurred near the Kirtley area. A subject was served a criminal trespass warning for the complainant’s property and was advised to leave her alone.
Deputy Terry Guentert was dispatched to a gas station in the La Grange area in reference to a vehicle fire. The vehicle involved was a complete loss. There were no report of injuries.
Deputy James Ulbig responded sponded to a fire near La Grange. It is believed the fire was caused by a controlled burn that got out of control. The La Grange Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire.
Deputy Cody Williams responded to an address in reference to a domestic disturbance. The suspect fled the scene prior to Williams’ arrival. An investigation was conducted and a warrant was issued to the suspect for Felony Assault.
Deputy Herman Olvera was dispatched to an address just outside Schulenburg in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, no charges were filed but several people were issued criminal trespass warnings for the property.
Deputy Duane Meagher responded to a venue at the antique show in reference to a missing juvenile. The juvenile was later located at a different nearby venue. After further investigation it was determined the parents of the juvenile had left the location while the juvenile was using the restroom. The juvenile was left behind for over 45 minutes. The case was presented to the County Attorney’s Office but no charges were filed.
Deputy Joe Gonzales responded to a structure fire in the Muldoon area. Gonzales arrived and found the structure to be fully engulfed. Gonzales assisted the Muldoon Fire Department until additional personnel could get on scene. The house was a complete loss and resources for the family were contacted. Gonzales responded to a disturbance in the cistern area involving a juvenile who assaulted his family. The juvenile was later charged for assault.
Deputy Jason Fowler took a report of fraud which occurred in the La Grange area. Asubject had a female prepare his taxes and identified herself as his wife. The subject is not married and did not know the female. The case remains under investigation. Fowler responded to a domestic disturbance near La Grange. It was found to be verbal only and no offense had occurred. The parties were separated for the evening.
Deputy Jared Michalec was dispatched to a subject passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle. After further investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of narcotics and was arrested. Michalec was dispatched a business in Round Top in reference to an intoxicated female. It was determined the female was underage and was served alcohol. The female was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and the business was cited.
Deputy Seth Nagel took a theft report which occurred near the Ledbetter area. The case remains under investigation at this time.
Deputy Wesly Arrison conducted a traffic stop in the La Grange area. After further investigation the driver was arrested on numerous charges including Driving While License Invalid and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Arrison stopped a vehicle near La Grange. The vehicle took off from Arrison and a pursuit ensued. Colorado County Deputies were able to disable the vehicle’s tires and the vehicle came to a stop. The driver ran on foot and was able to escape Deputies. The driver was identified and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Deputy Mark Pritchard was dispatched to a disturbance in Carmine, just off US-290. One male subject was arrested for Public Intoxication. Pritchard took a report of damaged property. It is believed a rock was thrown from a lawn mower into a vehicle’s window which caused minor injuries to the occupant of the vehicle.
Deputy Ty Roggenkamp stopped a vehicle in the Schulenburg area for a traffic violation. After further investigation, a male subject was arrested for felony possession of marijuana. Roggenkamp also responded to a disturbance in the Schulenburg area. After further investigation, a male subject was arrested for Terroristic Threat.
Jail Administrator Holly Smith reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 42 individuals for the month of March. Smith reports that the Jail Staff transported four individuals to Texas Department of Criminal Justice Facilities throughout the State to begin serving their sentences for crimes committed in Fayette County.
