    Fayette County Retired Teachers Meet and Have Cookie Swap Social

Members of the Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association met on Monday, March 11, with twelve in attendance. The fellowship time was hosted by Karen Fitch, who also donated the Book Raffle item.

The business meeting included approval of the January 8 minutes, presentation and approval of the treasurer’s report, Treasurer Chris Morrison emphasized that dues need to be in by July 1 (can be brought to either the May meeting, or to the June meeting). Also, dues that are automatically taken from bank accounts: members still owe $5 for local dues; she stressed that all checks need to be made out to “TRTA”.

New Business: Election of officers was held. As, there were no nominations from the floor, Chris Morrison made a motion that the slate be elected by acclimation, 2nd by Joan Miertschin. Officers elected: Co-First Vice Presidents: Peggy Halamicek and Terri Wagner; Second Vic-President: Marian Tajchman; Secretary: Esther Hartman.

There were no new members; the Retention Member Drawing (local dues paid) was won by Chris Morrison, and the Raffle Book Project Item was won by Debbie Morrill.

Members were reminded that March is the beginning of the new membership year, 2024 – 2025. Important dates to remember: April 15-17: TRTA State Convention (Corpus Christi) So far, Lisa Slinkard and Melanie Mica are attendees.

May 8: Spring District Conference (San Marcos) May 13: Fayette County Meeting, with Bingo June 10: Fayette County Meeting at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia 11:30 a.m., with awards and officer installation. Details will be given at the May 13 meeting.

The meeting concluded with “Cookie Swap” and socializing.
