Fayette County Opry’s Tribute to Hanks Williams is Sept. 19
This month is the Opry’s annual tribute to the late and great Hank Williams Sr. Portraying Hank Williams the Opry is proud to have young Wyatt Aleman to sing and play songs by the late and great Hank Williams. Wyatt Aleman is a 17-year-old from Harwood, who loves to play the Fiddle. He has been playing Fiddle for almost 7 years. He loves playing Traditional Country and Western Swing Music. Two of his favorite Artists are Hank Williams and Bob Wills. Wyatt has been blessed to be able to travel and play with some of the best musicians in the business. He was also a Fiddle player for Billy Mata and the Texas Tradition. One of his most memorable times of playing Fiddle, was when he was asked to perform a show with none other than Herb Remington. To be able to have played with one of Bob Wills’ original Playboys, was a highlight for Wyatt! He has also had the privilege of meeting various artists like Randy Travis, Moe Bandy, Johnny Rodriguez, Garth Brooks, Janie Fricke and many more.
Wyatt has been nominated as “Young Artist of the Year”, by the AWA, Academy of Western Artists, in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022. He won that title as “Young Artist of the Year” in 2018. This year, he has been nominated again and is now in the “Top 5” for the Final Round. The winner will be announced on Oct. 13, 2022.
About three years ago, Wyatt got a Guitar for his birthday. He self-taught himself how to play and has really enjoyed it. But it doesn’t stop there. Last October he said he wanted a Steel Guitar. Then on Wyatt’s 17th birthday, Oct. 4, 2021, mom and dad bought him a steel guitar. He started teaching himself as soon as he set it up in his room, and the rest is history.
Wyatt’s dream is to one day have his own band. He also plans on going to college and becoming a music teacher. He would love to have his own music studio to teach music lessons. Two of Wyatt’s biggest influences were his fiddle teachers, Richard Helsley and Andrew Wilson.
So be sure to be with the Fayette County Country Music Club on Monday, Sept. 19 for the annual Tribute to the late and great Hank Williams Sr.
