Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of January 2024.

Deputy Terry Guentert took a report of a recovered firearm which was in the Schulenburg area.

Deputy Cody Williams was dispatched to an address near Schulenburg in reference to a mental health crisis. The subject was determined to be a danger to herself and an Emergency Detention Order was completed. The female was evaluated and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Williams also investigated a roll over traffic accident on Interstate 10 westbound near mile marker 668. There were no reported injuries. A crash report was completed by Williams.

Deputy Herman Olvera took a report of a stolen vehicle that was taken from the Flatonia area. The vehicle was later recovered in Gonzales County.

Deputy Duane Meagher responded to a structure fire in the Plum area. The La Grange Fire Department arrived and put the fire out. A report was taken for documentation purposes.

Detective Kenn Kretz investigated multiple cases involving a suspect using counterfeit money to steal lottery tickets from convenience stores. After coordination with several agencies, the suspect was arrested near Elgin and is facing numerous charges from several counties.

Deputy Joe Gonzales responded sponded to an address in the West Point area in reference to a violation of a protective order. The suspect left on foot but was located by Gonzales. The suspect was arrested. Gonzales took a report of criminal mischief which occurred in the Frisch Auf! subdivision. Photographs were taken and a report was completed. The case remains under investigation at this time.

Deputy Jason Fowler was dispatched to FM 2436 near Creamer Creek road in reference to a vehicle partially blocking the roadway. After further investigation, it was discovered the driver was intoxicated and had a child in the car. The subject was arrested on numerous charges. Fowler checked on a vehicle at a store in Ellinger. Contact was made with a female who was sleeping. A license check of the female showed her to have several warrants with full extradition. The female then took of out of the parking lot and onto the roadway without any lights activated. A pursuit ensued and the vehicle’s tires were successfully deflated using a tire deflation device by Deputy Arrison. The female was arrested and there were three children inside of the vehicle. The children were released to the custody of CPS.

Deputy Seth Nagel stopped a vehicle for speeding on SH-71 near Trinity School Road. The driver was found to have an active warrant out of Galveston County, for DWI, second offense. The driver was arrested.

Deputy Mark Pritchard assisted with a high water rescue on Rocky Creek Road near Ruether Road. La Grange Fire arrived on scene and were able to get the driver of an 18 wheeler truck to safety.

Deputy Wesly Arrison conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. After further investigation, the male driver was arrested for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Convictions. Arrison was dispatched to an address in Winchester in reference to a suspicious person. The subject was found to be intoxicated and on someone else’s property. The subject was arrested for Public Intoxication. Arrison also took a report of a theft of lottery tickets using counterfeit money at a local convenience store. The suspect was arrested.

Jail Administrator Holly Smith reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 64 individuals for the month of January. Smith reports that the Jail Staff transported one individual to Texas Department of Criminal Justice Facilities throughout the State to begin serving their sentences for crimes committed in Fayette County.
