Faith Lutheran High Students Perform at ‘Spring Thing’ Concert

Faith Lutheran Graduation

Graduation for the second class of Faith Lutheran High School will be held Saturday May 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Congratulations to Valedictorian Benjamin Meyer and Salutatorian Nichole Jakobeit.

Serbin Picnic

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin will have their Annual Serbin Picnic on Sunday May 29 at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. They will have barbecue for sale by the pound beginning at 9 a.m. till sold out. The ladies will have a booth selling sides of potato salad, beans, noodles and pastries of all kinds.

Other activities include the baseball game (Weimar at Serbin), school children’s program, children’s booths and games, barrel train rides for the kids and entertainment by the Czech Melody Masters. The youth hamburger stand will be open from 4-7:30 p.m. They invite everyone to come meet your old friends and make new ones.

Community Baseball

Community Baseball is back. The Serbin Jackrabbits will play Weimar on Sunday May 29 at 2 p.m. at Serbin.

Pork Steak Dinner

St. Paul Lutheran Church Adult Fellowship in Serbin is having a pork steak dinner on Sunday June 19 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. Only advance plates will be sold for $12 and all are to-go. If you would like to order a plate contact Susan at (979) 540-0854 or Sharon at (979) 540-7154. All proceeds will be going toward future church/ school projects.

Holy Cross VBS

Vacation Bible School will be held June 20-22 from 5:30- 8 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. This year the theme is “Superheroes of the Bible: Transformed by Faith.” Registration is online and will be open from May 9-27. Visit www.holycrosswarda.com to register.

Wendish Heritage Scholarship

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society (TWHS) appreciates the support given to the scholarship program. All Texas Wendish Heritage Scholarship funds are received through fundraising projects and donations. The TWHS scholarship program, is available to students of Wendish descent and encourages students to learn more about their Wendish heritage. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school for Fall 2022 semester. The 2022-2023 scholarship applications will be available beginning April 19 online at www. texaswendish.org and on the Texas Wendish Facebook Page. The entire process is online and must be submitted digitally by the deadline of 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. California Visitors

Sherry Bamsch of Pflugerville and Rev. Duane and Stephanie Bamsch of Grass Valley, Calif. visited with Ralph and Carolyn Bamsch for several days last week. Duane and Stephanie attended the graduation of their son Andrew from Basic Training from the Navy in Great Lakes before making a stop in Texas.

Lange Baptism

Rylen Shawn Lange who was Baptized at Holy Cross Lutheran on Sunday, May 22. Rylen was born on March 21 to Patrick and Meghan Lange. His grandparents are Joyce Jenke, Gordon and Theresa Jenke and the late Billy and JoAnn Lange. Rylen’s sponsors and witnesses were Katie Jenke, Clint Oltmann, Byron Kalbas, Cierra Martinez, Kara Muniz and Melissa Basquez.

Bible Study

Bible Study at Holy Cross Lutheran Church is held each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the church library. This course is based on the book “How Happiness Happens” by Max Lucado. Everyone is welcome to join, contact Cyndy Zoch at cyndy. zoch@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Sewing & Quilting Group

The sewing and quilting group at Holy Cross Lutheran Church meets each Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon, in the old parish hall of the church. Everyone is welcome to join them for a morning of sewing, cutting, laughter, fellowship and of course yummy goodies. You do not need to be a member of Holy Cross to join this fun group. The ladies still collect all cancelled postage stamps, these are trimmed from their envelopes and sold to collectors. These can be dropped off at the church office, or in the designated box in the hallway.

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.
