Faith Lutheran High Hosting Good Friday Bake Sale W ARDA News

Faith Lutheran High School will be hosting its Annual Good Friday Bake Sale on Friday, April 7 at the Classic Bank parking lot in Giddings. Cookies, pies, cakes, kolaches, cinnamon rolls, homemade noodles, homemade breads and more will be available from 8 a.m. to noon, or until sold out. Bakers are needed to help make this event a success. You may drop off your baked items on Wednesday or Thursday April 5-6 at Faith High School, Medack and Oltmann in Giddings, Schiavone and Bamsch in La-Grange, or contact the school at (979) 242-2889 to make other arrangements.

Road Construction

Road construction recently began on the bridge on CR 214/Warda Blacktop Road. This road will be closed for several weeks so you will need to plan an alternative route.

150thAnniversary Celebration Everyone is invited to attend the 150th Anniversary Celebration of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda on Sunday, April 23. There will be a “homecoming” worship at 9 a.m. welcoming back former members and pastors. Refreshments will be provided at 10:30 a.m. with time for socializing, reminiscing and special greetings. There will be a catered meal with free will donation at noon. A special anniversary celebration worship will be held at 3 p.m. with guest preacher Dr. Michael Zeigler from the Lutheran Hour.

Knox Memorial Scholarship Raffle tickets for the Amanda Knox Memorial Scholarship Fund are now on sale. There are two separate raffles.

The first raffle is for half of an Angus/Wagyu calf and the processing. Only 100 tickets will be sold and two tickets will be drawn from that group.

The second raffle is for a trip to New York City, including airfare, three nights at the Edison hotel, and two tickets to two New York Yankees games. Only 100 tickets will be sold. Tickets are $100 each and all the money raised goes to the Amanda Knox scholarship fund. This scholarship will pay for the tuition for an incoming Faith Lutheran High School student.

Drawings will be held on April 10 for the calf and April 24 for the NewYork trip. Tickets can be purchased at the church office, La Grange Chevron or by contacting cyndy. zoch@gmail.com.

St. Paul Lutheran School New enrollment applications are now available for families who wish to enroll for the first time at St. Paul Lutheran School in Serbin for the 2023-24 school year. If you have a friend, relative or neighbor who desires a quality, Christian education for their child please encourage them to enroll at St. Paul Lutheran School. Holy Cross Services

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Maundy Thursday Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 6. Good Friday Service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, April 7 and Easter Services will be held Sunday, April 9, with sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and Festival Worship with communion at 9 a.m. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m.

Faith Lutheran High School FLHS had three students compete in the TAPPS State Music Competition on Friday, March 24 at CTX. Students performed vocal and instrumental solos from a selected piece of music. See page B4.

Faith High School is excited to announce that Epiphany Lutheran in Bastrop and Zion Lutheran in Schulenberg have recently joined the association of congregations that support FLHS.

Applications are now being accepted for an academic- based scholarship from the Amanda (Zoch) Knox Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund will pay for the full tuition for an upcoming 9th grade student of Faith Lutheran High School beginning in the Fall of 2023.
