Faith Lutheran High School in Warda will present “The Spring Thing.” This is a showcase of the students’ work in the fine arts department, including vocal, instrumental and handbell pieces. Everyone is invited to join them on Wednesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. to enjoy this event.

Mothers Day BBQ Chickens The Couples Club at Holy Cross Lutheran will have their annual BBQ Chickens on Mothers Day, May 12. Chickens are $12 each and cups of sauce are $3. Pick up will be at the Holy Cross picnic grounds from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Call the church office at (979) 2423333 to place your order by Monday, May 6.

Pasture ManagementWorkshop A Pasture Management Workshop will be held on Friday, April 26 from 9 a.m.3 p.m. at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds. The workshop is hosted by Brad Pierce and is good for 5 CEU’s applied to your TDA License. Cost is $60, payable by cash, check or credit card at the door. Bluff Creek Ranch 

Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda has bike riding trails that are open every day from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. They also offer primitive camping spots. May 18-19 is the Warda Race. Thriving Tejas Celebration Tejas Camp and Retreat Center will have a Thriving Tejas Celebration on Saturday, May 11. This will include a scavenger hunt, lunch, ice cream sundae bar as well as tours and recreational activities. Please RSVP on their website. Knox Memorial Scholarship Applications are now being accepted for The Amanda (Zoch) Knox Memorial Scholarship. This is a 4 year academic based scholarship for an incoming 9th grade student of Faith Lutheran High School beginning in the Fall of 2024. Applications are due May 1 and are available from the school or from Cyndy Zoch at cyndy.zoch@gmail.com.

Scholarship Fundraisers The Amanda Knox Memorial Scholarship Fund is holding two Spring raffles. The first is for an Ultimate Hill Country Experience for 2 people. Tickets for this raffle are limited and will sell for $100 each. One winner will be drawn. The second drawing will include 12 items for 12 winners. These tickets will sell for $20 each.

Tickets for both raffles are on sale now, with drawings held in May and June. All monies raised will go toward a full scholarship awarded to an incoming freshman at Faith Lutheran High School. Tickets can be purchased from the Holy Cross Lutheran Church office.

Game Day at Holy Cross The next Game Day at Holy Cross will be held Thursday, May 16 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served, there is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of Bingo, Dominoes and board games are offered.

Sewing Circle 

The Sewing Circle in Warda meets every Thursday from 9-noon in the old Parish Hall of Holy Cross Church (entrance is behind the church). You do not have to be a church member to join this fun group of ladies and no experience is necessary. They cut, sew, tie quilts and enjoy some good food and fellowship.

Twin Granddaughters 

Congratulations to Kenny and MelissaAlford on the birth of twin granddaughtersAdelyn Claire and Abigail Grace, born to their son Jared and Carolyn Alford on April 6. Excited to welcome them are their big brothers Nathan and Noah, and their great-grandparents Allen and Dolores Wolf.

Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Wednesday night Bible Study at Holy Cross Lutheran is held at 6:30 p.m. This covers the book of 2nd Samuel, which discusses the reign of David. Everyone is welcome to attend and there is no cost to join. To join this group, contact Cyndy Zoch at cyndy. zoch@gmail.com.

The midweek morning Bible Study at Holy Cross in Warda is Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. This covers the book “Has American Christianity Failed?” by Rev. Bryan Wolfmueller. Everyone is invited. Please call the church office at (979) 242-3333 to request a copy of the book for the low price of $9.

Faith Lutheran High School will be holding their annual golf tournament fundraiser on Friday, May 31 at Frisch Auf Country Club in La Grange. Shotgun start is at 8 a.m. with the possibility of an afternoon flight.

Recycle Trailer 

The recycle trailer is at the Warda storage facility. The local Trail Life Group collects aluminum cans at the Holy Cross picnic grounds. There is a wire bin at the picnic grounds for you to put your cans in. The boys greatly appreciate your support and the money they collect goes towards projects they participate in.
