Cody Pavlicek won reserve champion in the Hay Show with a coastal bermudagrass entry. Pavlicek’s hay sold for $2,800 at auction. He also won 1,000 lbs. of fertilizer donated by Farmers Coop of Schulenburg. Buyers were Fillip Land Services, Pavlicek Equipment and Repair and Joe and Rozanne Orsak. FIrst place in Class 3 of the Hay Show went to Daniel Neiser Jr. with a Klein grass entry. The hay sold for $1,400 at auction. Buyers were Rockin C Show Goats, Tri-County Realty, Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic, Schulenburg Livestock Commission, Willie Joe’s Processing, Hallettsville Livestock and Bubela Tree Farm and Arbor Care. Pictured are Chelsea Moeller of Rocking C Show Goats, Justin and Dani Mae Neiser and Daniel Neiser. First place in Class 2 of the Hay Show went to Derrl Ohnheiser with a coastal cross entry. The hay sold for $1,000 at auction. Buyers were Moeller Lawn and Custom Shredding, Ohnheiser Farms Bubela Tree Farm and Arbor Care, Willie Joe’s Processing and Mark Stang. The hay sold for $1,100 at auction buyers were M-G of Weimar, Fayette Savings Bank, Daniel Cernoch Plumbing, Kleiber Tractor and Equipment and Wick Well Service. Buyers were M-G of Weimar, Wick Water Well Service, Kleiber Tractor and Equipment, Fayetteville Bank, Daniel Cernoch Plumbing, Fayette Savings Bank and Tex Propane. Brower also won 1,000 lbs. of fertilizer donated by Bumper Crop Texas of Schulenburg. The Schulenburg Young Farmers held their annual Hay Show in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair on Thursday, Aug. 31.

Dennis Brower of Schulenburg exhibited the grand champion entry, a bale of jumbo rye grass. It sold for $2,100 at auction. The reserve champion prize went of Cody Pavlicek of Schulenburg, who exhibited a coastal bernumdagrass entry. It sold for $2,800 at auction.

There were only 14 entries in the hay show due to weather conditions and other difficulties producers faced in growing quality hay this year.
