Fayette County Commissioners Court recognized two local EMS medics for reaching important milestones in their careers.

Patty Nelson, 35-year EMS veteran, and Melody McCoy, who recently completed her 15th year at Fayette County EMS, were both honored for their years of service at the Commissioners Court meeting on Thursday, April 13.

“Patty has 16 years in total working for Fayette County,” Vandever said. “She left Fayette County some years ago and advanced her career elsewhere. She decided to come back five years ago. She hit her five year mark and we wanted to recognize her for her service. She brings a lot of perspective for someone who has worked in EMS for 35 years in total.

“Melody has been here her entire EMS career,” Vandever added. “She recently came up on 15 years. She also works with our first responders. She wrote the class on first responder training that all of our first responders go through.”

Pct. 4 Commissioner Drew Brossmann praised the two medics for their service.

“The job that these individuals do is unbelievable,” said Brossmann, who also serves as an assistant fire chief in Schulenburg. “We see them at the wreck scenes and all the things they do - saving people in the community. Both of them have come down to the Schulenburg Fire Department and they’ve done numerous hours of training with our members. What they do is incredible. I tip my hat to you.”
