Situational Awareness Class There will be a free situational awareness class led by instructor Officer Tammy Jo McCleaney on May 7 from 2-5 p.m. The class will be at the Elinger Chamber of Commerce Hall. This event is sponsored by the City of Ellinger, Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department and the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce.

Shared Lutheran Ministry St. John Lutheran in Ellinger will have a breakfast church service on Sunday, April 23 at 8 a.m.

Worship services are still offered on Facebook, You Tube and KTIM 89.1 on Sundays at Noon. Ellinger has worship every Sunday at 8 a.m. with communion.

Hermann Sons

Any high school student looking for volunteer hours will be welcome at the Hermann Sons Camp in Comfort, Texas on Saturday,April 22. A workday is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and will have jobs for all skill levels. Painting, cleaning, yard work and much more are on the list of jobs. Ellinger VFD

The Fire Department will hold the annual fundraiser on April 30 at the Chamber Hall. The barbecue chicken and sausage dinner is $12 per plate and serving in the hall starts at 11 a.m. Drive through will start at 10:30 a.m. and chicken to go will be $10 a chicken at the pits. The auction will begin at 1 p.m. Proceeds will be used to purchase a new rescue truck.

Ellinger C of C Bingo The next Bingo will be May 6 at the chamber hall.

Ellinger Tomato Festival The 86th Tomato Festival will be held Friday, May 26-Sunday, May 28. Friday-Margarita and Chips and Salsa, Entree and Dessert contest plus Round One of Chopped Challenge and Entertainment by The Broken Spokes from 8:30-11:30 pm. Saturday-Tomato Trot 5K Fun Run, BBQ Cookoff, Farmers Breakfast and Bloody Mary Contest, Final LIVE Chopped Challenge Showdown, Raffles, Face Painting Live auction at 7 p.m. followed by The Bandits. Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Face book page.
