    Dogs Reportedly Kill Chickens in Schulenburg

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of May 7-13.

Animal Complaint

On May 10, Code Enforcement Animal Control Officer responded to the 1100 block of J.A. Green in regard to two dogs that had killed a bunch of complainant’s chickens. The resident informed the officer that there were two dogs and he was able to trap one. The resident was in the process of burying the dead chickens and he estimated 12-15 chickens were killed. Officer took the dog that had been trapped to the pound and also tried to find the owner.

On May 11, Harden responded to the 600 block of James Avenue to get a trapped cat and get to the vet clinic to be spayed.

On May 13, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 300 block ofAugust to put a dog up.

Disturbance

On May 13, Vicent responded to the 100 block of N. Kessler to the new gym for a disturbance. The parties were separated.

Reckless Driving

On May 9, Officer Chris Kalina checked the area of 14 Kessler for an older model brown two toned dually truck that was driving reckless.

Shots Fired

On May 12, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 200 block of St. John Road in regard to a loud sound similar to a gunshot. Officers located individual running and were able to identify subject and it was determined it was a juvenile. The sound was discovered to be fireworks. The juvenile was released to a family member.

Suspicious Vehicle/Subject On May 9, Kalina observed a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of N. Main in the front parking lot. Vehicle was unoccupied.

On May 11, Sgt. Tobey McFadden responded to the 1000 block of Eilers for a truck driving back and forth down the street and parking in people’s driveways.

On May 11, Officer MD Krenek responded to the 600 block of Anderson for a subject peering into vehicles in the area.

On May 11, Krenek was dispatched to the 400 block of Baumgarten for suspicious activity. Officer learned it was a repo from a local residence.

Traffic Stop

On May 7, Powe stopped a driver in the 500 block of Kessler for making a wide right turn. Driver received a warning for right turn and violation of drivers license restrictions.

On May 8, Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone.

On May 8, Vincent responded to the 40 block of N. Kessler for a minor accident in the Whataburger drive thru.

On May 9, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 80 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone.

On May 9, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for a vehicle speeding.

On May 9, Vincent stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding going 55 in a 40.

On May 9, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 1400 block of Kessler for speeding. Driver was issued a warning.

On May 9, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 1000 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone.

On May 10, Powe stopped a driver in the 1200 block of Summit for defective tail light. Driver received a warning On May 10, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. Frontage Road for failure to drive in a single lane. Driver received citation for no insurance.
