Deadline to Enter Young Farmers Hay Show is Aug. 12
The Schulenburg Young Farmers will hold their 56th Annual Hay Show onWednesday Aug. 30 and Thursday Aug. 31 in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair.
Judging will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the fairgrounds. The hay sale will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the fairgrounds.
Hay produced in Fayette County in the spring and summer of 2023 can be entered in the following classes:
• Class 1 - Coastal
• Class 2 - Other Bermuda grasses
• Class 3 - Other perennial grasses
• Class 4 - Mixed grasses
• Class 5 - Sorghums
• Class 6 - Winter annuals (oats and ryegrass)
• Class 7 - Legumes and Legume grass mixture.
An entry fee of $10.00 will pay for the cost of the testing. Hay entries can be dropped off at the following locations: MG Farm Service Center - Weimar, Farmers Co-op - Schulenburg, La Grange Farm and Ranch - La Grange and Mica Soil Service - Flatonia.
