DAR Chapter Supports Troops on the Border

Members attending the May 21, meeting of the the Smith-McMillan Chapter, NSDAR provided generously towards the Chapter’s Veterans Project: Support Texas Troops on the Border. Items were received by Janet Murphy, Service to Veterans Chair and JoAnn Vasina, chair of Project Patriot who then itemized and sent them off to Camp Walker in Laredo.

In addition to their donations, Dr. Lawrence J. Hatfield Jr. DDS also donated approximately $255 of dental supplies and combined with the chapter members’ 287 items at approximately $445 value plus cash donations of $65, the grand total of donations to Camp Walker is estimated at $765.

Donated items included toothpaste and toothbrushes, toothbrush covers, dental floss, hand soap, body powder, wet wipes, body wash, sunscreen, disposable razors, deodorant men’s and women’s shave cream, lip balm, and assorted chip, cookie and other snack items and jerky sticks.
