Czech Heritage Society Officers Announced
The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society met on Feb. 5 in Hanslik Hall at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange for their soup social and installation of officers. Members were asked about going on a tour to New Dubina to see a movie-set village museum with dated antiques with an 1856 log cabin. A sign up sheet was available. Information was given about scholarships that include $500 for a High School Senior from Fayette CHS and $500 from State CHS. Also, a $1,000 scholarship from State CHS for a High School Senior or a first year college/ vocational school is available. All Fayette County counselors have the scholarship applications. The summer State Queen Royalty Pageant will be held in Hallettsville on July 22. There will be a newly formed Czech-Slovak Royalty that includes Prince, Princess, Junior Queen, and Queen. Notify Betty Danner if you know anyone interested in being in the pageant. Door prizes were drawn followed by a light meal of soups, sandwiches, and desserts. The next time we meet will be on June 13 for a summer picnic.
