    Couple Celebrates Anniversary in Ireland

Ron and Pam Knotts celebrated their anniversary in style. They recently returned from a two week tour of Ireland to celebrate their 42nd wedding anniversary, that is a great accomplishment today. This is a trip they had been planning for a long time and finally got the chance to take it.

The tour began with several days walking the streets of Dublin City checking out the architecture and seeing the sights. They visited St. Patrick’s Cathedral, great history museums and local pubs. They sampled Irish Stew and Fish and Chips with smashed peas. One evening they were treated to dinner and a show featuring traditional Irish instruments, songs and dancing.

The next part of the tour was eight days touring the southern part of the country by bus, stopping at major sights and over nighting at historic hotels, including getting to spend the night in one of the castles. They met lots of locals, toured castles, and saw amazing landscapes. Along the drive the tour guide told stories of Irish history and gave lots of details about life today in Ireland. They visited Blarney Castle, had a medieval dinner in a castle and watched a sheepdog demonstration. Music was a big focus with a variety of shows featuring dancers and traditional music and instruments.

After the bus tour Ron and Pam stayed on in Dublin for a few days to enjoy the music on Grafton Street, a well known venue for aspiring musicians. The street is a walking shopping area and the buskers (singers) set up their equipment and perform, hoping to get tips. Many of the singers are well known on social media and all are hoping to be discovered. Ron and Pam have been following one of the young singers, Saibh Skelly, on YouTube and they were able to attend her performance at Whelan’s, a local music club. What a way to celebrate an anniversary.

The whole Ireland trip was packed full of wonderful sights and stories to be retold for years to come.

Weather

Muldoon has seen showers fairly regularly. Strong winds and hail threats have become a regular thing in the area. With all the moisture mosquitoes have been coming out strong. It has been nice to have the much needed moisture, but the mosquitoes are a drawback from sitting outside to enjoy an evening on the porch/patio.

Church News

The Stray Cowboy Gathering (SC2G) is going strong and growing. SC2G meets every Sunday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts. Then, at 10 a.m., hold their main worship service every Sunday morning. Recently they hosted a special musical guest, Jackie Cox. They enjoyed a wonderful morning enjoying some much blessed music. They had a nice crowd attend and everyone enjoyed the uplifting special music Jackie brought.

SC2G is going strong filling a need in the community. They have a place for any and all youth ages 13 and up to come on Wednesday nights from 6 to 8 p.m. They provide a meal for the youth, a Bible study, games and lots of good fun. All area youth are invited to come and check out “ROPE” (Rely On Prayer Everyday). This is a free activity that is offered to all area youth.

SC2G is also holding Bible Study every Thursday night at 7 p.m. The Bible Study is lead by Steve Merrifield. Just bring your Bible and come be blessed. If you have questions just come and ask. This group of hard working Christians would love to answer them at any of their gatherings.

Ill

There have been a number in the Muldoon area that has been ill. Everything from allergies, sinus infections, stomach viruses, to covid has been making the rounds. Be sure and check on your neighbors, especially the elderly. They might need a little helping hand and it is the fiber of a small community to take care of your neighbors. A phone call goes a long way Neighborhood Watch

With all the increase in traffic through the area, we need to keep a more vigilant eye out for our neighbors. If you see something odd or out of place, give that neighbor a call. If we all pull together we can keep the Muldoon area safe.
