County Stock Show Now Open to Schulenburg, Flatonia

Fayette County Junior Livestock Show (FCJLS) recently finalized changes for next year which will open the show to exhibitors from Schulenburg and Flatonia.

FCJLS Officers, Committee Chairs, Committeemen, Community Representatives, Advisors and Agents met on April 30 for an open forum followed by a closed meeting. The board approved the following changes for the 2025 Fayette County Junior Livestock Show.

• Any 4-H Club, FFA or FHA member- boy or girl- is enrolled in a public school, private school, or home schooled in Fayette County or whose permanent address is in Fayette County is eligible to show and sale upon on the invitation by the show committee that does not show at another local stock show in Fayette County or surrounding counties.

• Animals tagged in for any local Junior Livestock Show (i.e Flatonia Jr. Livestock Show or Schulenburg Jr. Livestock Show) are not eligible to show at FCJLS.

Important Dates

• Show dates are March 27-29, 2025

• Broiler orders due August 26, 2024 and entry cards due 1st Monday in February 2025

• Steers, Sheep and Goats-Tag-In October 22, 2024

• Swine- Tag-In November 19, 2024

• Beef Heifers- Entry Card due 1st Monday in February

• Ag Mechanics-Entry Card due 1st Monday in February • Cake- Entry Card due 1st Monday in February

• Rabbits- Validated March 1, 2025 FCJLS officers and committees are seeking Community Representation from each community of Flatonia and Schulenburg. Two representatives will be needed. Please reach out to the officer team or committee member if you have a willing heart to serve your community in the best interest for ALL exhibitors. A nomination will be made and vote taken at our next meeting. You may email your request to serve to faycojls@gmail.com.

The entire FCJLS officer team and board members are working as fast as possible to publish the full set of rules and bylaws. Our next meeting is set for May 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ag Extension Office. There will be another open forum from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with a closed session to follow promptly at 7:30 p.m.
