DENNIS STRYK of Schulenburg, Texas, is a lifelong resident of Fayette County was intrigued with country music since the age of seven, spanning some 65 years. In 1973 he became the lead singer for “The Wild West” and in 1976, the band “Wildfire”, playing dancehalls throughout south central Texas, playing the songs of recording artists Ray Price, Merle Haggard, B J Thomas, & Ronnie Milsap. Also in 1973, he became owner and operator of New Bielau dancehall south of Weimar Texas for 22 years, featuring some of the best country bands in central Texas. Since 1995, he has been singing for weddings, funerals, and memorial and veterans events. For the past 11 ½ years, he was fortunate enough to become a member of a Christian musical group, “D’Vine Testament” All and all, you could say “he just loves to sing.”
KIMBERLYN KRAUSE is a 26 year-old Giddings native and has been a musician her entire life. She enjoys playing at various music venues all over Texas, but opries have always been her favorite gigs to travel to. She plays various instruments such as piano, guitar, ukulele, banjo, violin, accordion, and has recently taken up the harmonica. Kimberlyn has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and is a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2019. So, when she’s not playing music, she is busy educating the future of America with 1st graders. She currently lives in Spring where she will begin her 5th year of teaching in August. She has 2 nieces (age 4 and 9 months old) who are her whole world and she is excited to finally live in the same city as them to watch them grow up. She also hopes to teach them to be musicians just like her one day. The Fayette County Opry is one of the first opries Kimberlyn ever performed at when she started playing for opries at the young age of 7 years old. Mark Lehmann, a current Fayette County Opry band member, actually taught Kimberlyn guitar lessons when she was younger, so to be able to play on the same stage as him all these years later is truly bittersweet for her. Music is truly her passion and always will be.
