    Community Blood Drive Sunday in Carmine

A blood drive will be held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church this Sunday, Aug. 25 from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.To make an appointment, go to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center website. It is sponsored by Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top and MLLC.

RT-C School News 

Round Top-Carmine Jr. varsity and varsity volleyball teams play at Giddings on Aug. 20 with the first game at 5 p.m.

School pictures will be taken on Aug. 22.

Aug. 23 is an early release day. Buses will run at 12:30 p.m.

Kids Car & Truck Show The Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation is sponsoring their first Classics for Kids Car & Truck Show on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Carmine Hall, 300 N Hauptstrasse, Carmine TX 78932. Car and truck registration will be from 8-10 a.m. Trophies will be given at 1 p.m.

Cost for registration is $25 by Sept. 6 and $30 after Sept. 6. Cars and trucks from the years 1999 and older are welcome. Spectator entry is free. T-shirts will be available at the show. There will be goodie bags, food and drinks for purchase and oldies music. It will be held rain or shine.

Funeral Serving Committees The funeral serving committees of Martin Luther Lutheran Church will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. All members of the groups are invited to attend this annual meeting for discussion and recommendations.

Rebekah Group 

The Martin Luther Lutheran Church Rebekah Group met on Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building. The seven members present were Leonita Sanders, Dianna Gerland, Nancy Eilers, Diana Wunderlich, Jocie Jacob Braun, Joann Ullrich, and Joys Baird.

The Bible study theme was “After Certainty: A Biblical Guide; Session 3: Compassion.”

The business meeting was called to order by Vice-President, Joann Ullrich.

Diana Wunderlich reported for Mission Action that the quilting group meets on Aug. 12. The collection for AMEN will take place in August and a container will be set out.

Sedalia Ullrich reported for Mission Community about the nursing home parties. Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation cancelled the one on Aug. 15 as they had doublebooked. The party at Silversage Brenham Assisted Living is on Sept. 4.

Joys Baird reported for Mission Growth that Denna Hardin will be the guest speaker for the Thankoffering service on Nov. 10.

Some of the Rebekah Group helped with the RT-C Teacher’s breakfast on Aug. 8. Round Top, Shelby, and Waldeck also assisted.

The Harvest Festival is planned for Oct. 20 at the Carmine Hall.

Labor Day service will be in the Fellowship Hall on Sept. 1. There will be no meal served this year.

Lutheran World Relief kits will be assembled and packed on Aug. 28 at 9 a.m.

The Western Cluster Fall Gathering is scheduled for Sept. 28 at Warrenton.

The group sang Happy Birthday for Joann Ullrich.

Joys Baird gave the offering meditation for Sedalia Ullrich.

The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer and the table prayer was sung.

Members attending served as hostesses.

Carmine 42 Club 

The Carmine 42 Club met on August 7 at JW’s Steakhouse. After enjoying the delicious meal, eight games of 42 were played.

Scoring the highest were partners Linda Mattocks and LaVerne Albers with a score of 1967. They played two hands of 84. Second highestscoring partners were Edith Flinn and Myrt Meinkowsky with a score of 1816 and they also played two hands of 84. Carol Naegeli and Betty Porter played two hands of 84 and one hand of 126. Jeanette Schoenst and Avalda Pohl played one hand of 84.

This group will next meet on Sept. 4.

MLLC News 

Funeral Serving groups meet Wednesday at 6 p.m.

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion observing the Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy communion is at 10 a.m.

The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Blood Drive is Sunday from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

Visitors’ Center 

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Recycling Trailer 

The recycling trailer is in Carmine on Thursdays from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Carmine Hall.

Meals on Wheels 

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250AugsburgAve. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9 - 11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.
