Colorado River 100 Racers Paddle Through
The Colorado River 100 race came down the river last weekend.
Dozens of competitors in two different divisions (both double canoe teams and single kayakers) began as early as 5 a.m. in Bastrop and paddled the 100 or so kilometers past checkpoints in Smithville and Plum Park where they were allowed to resupply.
The race ended in La Grange with the first team arriving at 5:17 p.m. This year there were even two stand-up paddle board participants that did a shorter course.
Shown here is the team of Vince Belcastro and Jeremy Simpson of San Antonio at the Plum checkpoint. They arrived in La Grange after 14 hours on the river.
