Clinton Jr. and Cheryl Rohde will be celebrating 50 wonderful years of marriage on July 8, 2022.

Cheryl was born on Feb. 14, 1953 and raised in Carmine to the late Arthur and Mamie Pohl. Right down the road in Warrenton, Clinton Rohde Jr. was born on Nov. 22, 1948 to the late Clinton and Genell Rohde.

Clinton and Cheryl met through school at Round Top ISD where they both graduated. Soon after Clinton’s graduation they started dating. Clinton attended Blinn College, later graduated from Sam Houston State University and served in the National Guard before asking Cheryl to marry him.

They were married at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine, surrounded by loved ones.

Afterwards, they moved to Houston where they started their family. Brad Rohde was born on Dec. 28, 1975. In 1977 they moved back to La Grange where they continued to grow their family and were able to be closer to relatives. Clinton got a job with the Fayette Power Plant and Cheryl ran her own day care.

Randall Rohde was born Oct. 12, 1981. Cheryl then decided to go work for the La Grange Independent school district. Kendall Rohde was born on Aug. 26, 1988. Six years later they built their own home where they currently reside.

Clinton retired from FPP in 2005. Cheryl retired from the school in May of 2010, which she states was “The very first day Kendall got out of college.” Both of them still haven’t slowed down after retiring. Clinton and Cheryl still operate a small cattle operation and a custom hay bailing business. Clinton enjoys his motorcycle and time at the coast. Cheryl enjoys gardening and keeping up her unique landscaping around their homeplace. The two of them love spending time with their family and friends, their two granddaughters Kimberly and Jessica Rohde, and are looking forward to their youngest son’s wedding in August of this year.

God blessed each of them with very defining characteristics, a loving family, and with those made their partnership over the last 50 years something to truly be admired.
