Classic Car Show Saturday in Carmine

The “Bob Springer Memorial Sweetheart Classic Car Show” will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11. It opens at 8 a.m. and the display will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. along Sylvan Street, which is next to the south side of Highway 290. It will extend from Luther Lane on the east side to Hauptstrasse on the west side.
Everyone is invited to come join the day of fun. Bring your Sweet Ride-Favorite Classic or Classics, if you have one (some), for all to see.
Bob started this classic car show in 2015. He passed away in December. His friends, along with the Carmine EDC, are continuing the show in his memory.

RT-C School News
Homecoming at Round Top-Carmine High School was held Friday, Jan. 27. Charlee Wessels was crowned Homecoming Queen by last year’s queen, Ilse Salinas. Also, Kannyn Goehring was named the Basketball Beau.
A Homecoming Dance for high school students was held the next night at the school.
Varsity Girls and Boys basketball teams play at Fayetteville Feb. 7 at 5 p.m. This will be the girls last district game. The boys host Buckholts Feb. 10 at 5.
FFA meeting is Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. Meetings are open to junior FFA and High School FFA members, as well as parents.
Applications for a place on the RTC-ISD school board election ballot may be picked up at the Elementary Campus in Round Top until Feb 17 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave., Carmine, TX 78932.
Come early to play dominos and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9 – 11:30 a.m.
Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and is for pick-up only until 11:30 a.m. There are 5 meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Drill Night is Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. Volunteers and interested persons are always welcome to attend.
If you plan a controlled burn, call the Fayette County Sheriff’s office at (979) 9685856 to give them your name, location of burn, and phone number. In Washington County, call (979) 277-7373.
Bingo
Bingo for Seniors (60 and older, plus guests) is held at the Ledbetter Community Center on the second Sunday of the month. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks, and drinks are available for a freewill donation. This is a nonprofit community event for entertainment. The next date is Feb. 12.
Carmine Lions Club
The next meeting of the Carmine Lions Club will be on Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carmine Firemen Department Annex Building. All are welcome to attend.
MLLC News
Worship Committee meets Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Confirmation class meets Wednesday from 4:15-6:15 p.m.
Rebekah Group meeting is Thursday at 2 p.m.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Souper Bowl of Caring donations will be collected at both the Saturday and Sunday services.
Sunday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Sixth Sunday after Epiphany, is at 10 a.m. Praise Team leads songs and the Noisy offering will be collected. This year’s noisy offering will benefit the AMEN Food Pantry in La Grange. The service will be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Quilting for Lutheran World Relief is Monday at 9 a.m.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean #1 and #2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
