HOT Tax

Three grant requests for Hotel Occupancy Tax funds were approved in the special City Council Meeting held on Friday, Sept. 29. Funds were awarded to the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, Arts for Rural Texas and the Fayetteville Community and Performance Center.

Tax Rate

City Council voted to set the new Fayetteville Ad Valorem tax rate at .08254/$100 valuation, which is lower than last year’s rate. The lower tax rate is the result of the City paying off their General Fund debt. Per Mayor Mike Stroup, this has been a primary goal of this administration.

Tax Vote

Fayetteville ISD hosted a public meeting to discuss the Voter Approval Tax Rate Election last Monday and will hold another meeting Thursday, Oct. 12, at 6:00 in the boardroom. Food Challenge

Safari

Fayette County residents Bette and Jerry Gips and Deborah and Ken Ripper recently returned from a 10-day Tanzanian safari. They were joined by neighboring Austin County residents Julie and Maury Shepherd, Cecilia Samish and Dorothy Morrison. The group visited a traditional Maasai village where they learned about the culture, traditions and nomadic way of life.

Business Opening

Boutique Kimberly is slated to open mid-October in the square, occupying the space previously held by Petals N Lace. “I’m bringing to Fayetteville and area visitors some wonderful high-end items and a fabulous jewelry line from Germany that’s unique and affordable. Look for upscale women’s clothing that’s potentially been lightly worn. If you’re on a budget but looking for quality clothes, designer purses and jewelry from Louboutin, Athleta, J.Crew, Banana Republic and more, my new boutique is worth exploring.” stated store owner Kimberly Meyerett. “Some of the clothes and shoes haven’t been touched at all and still have tags on them. All my items are reasonably priced and unique.”

Meyerett was the previous owner of three Houston restaurants. Her and her fiancée are building a home in the Westview subdivision. Look for lots more information soon.
