    City of Carmine Offering Credit for Completion of Survey

The City of Carmine is offering a $5 credit to this month’s water bill for all water customers who return a completed survey to City Hall by May 31. It has questions by the TCEQ (Texas Commission of Environmental Quality) about the city water.

Surveys have been sent in the mail, may be found at cityofcarmine.com website, or picked up at City Hall.

Decoration Service 

The Carmine Cemetery Association will hold its annual Decoration Service this Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m. at the cemetery. The Rev. David Tinker will lead the service.

Bingo for Seniors 

Bingo for Seniors (age 60 and older, plus guests) will be held this Sunday, May 19 due to Mother’s Day being on the second Sunday of the month. It is held at the Ledbetter Community Center from 2-4 p.m. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks and drinks are available for a freewill donation.

Food Bank Truck 

Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church this Saturday, May 18 from 10-11 a.m. It is located at the junction of FM 1291 and FM 2145.

Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk through the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy re-usable bags, boxes, or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by CTFB.

RT-C School News 

School Lunch Hero Day was observed the beginning of May at Round Top-Carmine elementary school to pay tribute to the ladies who prepare the food. Many thanks to Veronica Skaggs, Gina Lebouef, Rashel Carrico, and Felicia Sooby.

Teacher appreciation week was kicked off this week with a sign in front of the high school campus which reads “Our Teachers Rock.” They also had a Whataburger breakfast.

The end of the school year will be here soon and banquets are being held. The Academic banquet was May 9. Athletic banquet will be May 14 and FFA banquet is on May 16.

A free dental clinic will be held at the school on May 22 from 1-4 p.m. for all members of the community. It is sponsored by the Texas A&M University School of Nursing Mobile Health Clinic. They will provide dental screening and fluoride varnish. To make an appointment, please call the appointment line at (979) 4360587.

Looking ahead, the last day of classes is on May 23. School will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. that day.

High School graduation and eighth-grade promotion is May 24 at 7 p.m. at Festival Hill.

Memorial Day Ceremony 

A Memorial Day ceremony is scheduled for Monday, May 27 at 9 a.m. at the Carmine City Park pavilion. Everyone is welcome. Community veterans that served our great country and have died will be remembered and honored. The roster of our great heroes will be read.

Light refreshments will be served immediately following the playing of “Taps.” Bring a lawn chair if you wish.

Carmine VFD 

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is today at 7 p.m.

The Firemen’s Feast and Fundraiser will be held on July 21 with a drive-through fried chicken meal. Tickets will also be sold for a drawing.

Martin Luther VBS 

VBS will be held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church June 9-13 with a tentative time from 5:30-7:45 p.m. The closing program will be on Sunday, June 16 during the 10 a.m. worship service. “Scuba - Diving into Friendship with God” is the theme. Register at vbspro. events/p/mllcbethlehemscuba.

Domino Club 

The Carmine 42 Domino Club met on May 1 at JW’s Steakhouse. A lunch was enjoyed by everyone, which was provided by one gracious player. After lunch, eight competitive games of 42 were played among the partners determined by drawing for positions at tables.

The high scoring partners were Donna Mueller and Marlene Waak with a score of 2,105 and they played one hand of 84 and one hand of 126. Second highest scoring partners were Jeanette Schoenst and Linda Mattocks with a score of 1,913 and they played three hands of 84. Partners Myrt Meinkowsky and Edith Flinn played three hands of 84. Also enjoying the games were partners LaVerne Albers and Carol Naegeli who played two hands of 84.

This group will be ready for more games on June 5.

Bunco Group 

The Bunco Group of Carmine and Round Top met at JW’s Steakhouse on May 1. Hostess was Susan Bathe. Lisa Mayer won the most games. Other players included Colette Wunderlich, Rene’ Zwernemann, Darlene Etzel, Nancy Eilers, Leonita Sanders, Melba Zingelmann, Debbie Eckert, Debbie Jacob, Linda Levien, and Catthy Gau.

Carmine on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. at the Carmine Hall.

Meals on Wheels 

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

MLLC News 

AA meets Saturday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion observing the Day of Pentecost is at 6 p.m. You are encouraged to wear red for Pentecost on Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy communion and Confirmation, is at 10 a.m.

RT-C Baccalaureate service is Sunday at 5 p.m.
