News

Round Top’s Christmas tree lighting extravaganza will be Friday, Dec. 2 from 6-8 p.m. Plus, enjoy a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus. There will be music and children’s activities including a Letters to Santa Station, along with hot chocolate and local winery popups.

Round Top Art Revival

Round Top Art Revival will host their second pop-up event at the Round Top Courthouse on Saturday, Nov. 26. from 11 a.m.7 p.m. for art, music, libations and contemporary art.

Deputy Santa

Fayette County Deputy Santa Program’s Annual Toy Drive begins Nov. 28. A donation box will be at the Stone Cellar for unwrapped toys for children of all ages. If you would like to make a cash or check donation please contact Denise directly at the Cellar at (979) 633-3114. The collection will go through Thursday, Dec. 22.

Round Top Tour of Homes

Saturday, Dec. 3 is the 26th Annual Round Top Area Historical Society Christmas Tour of Homes from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. This is your chance to view seven beautiful properties decorated for Christmas. Tickets are still available for purchase the day of tour at the Round Top Historical Campus 397 E. Mill St. (behind the Round Top Post Office) at the RTAHS pavilion. Tickets are $20 each. Beginning at 3 p.m., the Round Top Family Library’s annual Book Walk returns. There will be a festive Christmas DJ, complimentary candy canes, and guests can stop by the courthouse for drinks and cookies. The library’s staff will be selling its delicious stew throughout the evening. Wrap your evening up with the annual Round Top Lighted Christmas Parade. The yearly parade features lighted floats, food and drinks, live music and shopping around town. Afterwards, enjoy a special Christmas movie screening, featuring “A Christmas Story.” Ugly Sweater Christmas Bingo

Friday, Dec. 9 come out to the Round Top Square for Ugly Sweater Christmas Bingo from 7-9 p.m. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, snacks, and drinks, and come join the holiday fun, while sipping on your favorite beverage and competing for prizes that include both gift certificates and cash. A Round Top local winery popup will add to the holiday cheer.

Outdoor Concert

Saturday, Dec. 10, enjoy a free outdoor concert featuring Austin’s People’s Choice Band at Round Top’s Town Square from 7-9 p.m. This high-energy dancehall band will belt out a mix of holiday and country hits. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy music under the stars along with a pop-up from one of Round Top’s famous local wineries.

A “Willie” Country Christmas

It’s a “Willie” Country Christmas. Save the date for Saturday, Dec. 10 for a Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings tribute show at the Round Top Dancehall at the Stone Cellar. Details coming soon.

Lone Star Christmas Bingo

On Friday, Dec. 16, it’s Lone Star Christmas Bingo at the Round Top Square from 7-9 p.m. Snatch a photo with a festively decorated longhorn, and enjoy the popup “saloon” presented by Mandito’s and Popi Burger. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and come compete for prizes including gift certificates and cash.

Miracle on 34th Street

A showing of the classic Christmas movie, “Miracle on 34th Street” will air Saturday, Dec. 17 from 7-9 p.m. A hot chocolate popup will be at the Square to sweeten the experience. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs.

Photos with the Grinch

Friday, December 23 get your photo taken with the Grinch & Cindy Lou Who at the Town Square from 11 a.m.1 p.m.

Sean Orr’s Texas Gold Trio will perform at The Stone Cellar Saturday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. Victor Bustos plays Sunday at 4 p.m.

Round Top Rifle Hall

The Round Top Rifle Hall Monday Night Hamburger Social is the first through third Monday of each month. The Hall opens at 5:30 p.m., and the order window is open from 6-8 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA. Festival Hill

The Houston Masterworks Chorus will be at Festival Saturday, Dec. 3. The Houston Masterworks Chorus performs “Rejoice!” as part of Festival Hill’s annual eclectic celebration. Enjoy holiday favorites, ending in a candlelit sing-along of “Silent Night.” Adults are $30, students are $10.

Round Top Family Library

Round Top Family Library is open Monday-Friday from 1:305:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Come out for the Senior Citizen Gaming party Sunday, Nov. 27 from 2-4 p.m.

Adult Yoga meets Mondays at 5 p.m.

After School Kids Junior Master Gardner (JMG) meets Wednesdays, from 3:30-5:15 p.m. for fourth through sixth grades.

Chess Club for ages 7 and up meets on Wednesdays from 4-5:15p.m. Registration for this class is required.

Tuesday, Nov. 29, support the RTFL for Giving Tuesday. The Round Top Family Library depends on private donations to fund its programs and services. Round Top-Carmine ISD

Students will head back to class on the 28th for three weeks, then have an early dismissal Dec. 16, which is the start of Christmas break. Check out the Carmine section of the newspaper for sports updates.

Historical Society

Winedale

Christmas at Winedale will be Saturday, Dec. 10, noon to 4 p.m. There will be crafts and folklife demonstrations, music and theater performances, food and beverages, and more. This event is free. For more information call Winedale at (979) 2783530.

Hermann Sons Life Lodge 151

Linda Mattocks, Vice President, called the November monthly meeting of Hermann Sons Life to order on Thursday evening Nov. 17 with the Pledge of Allegiance. Melanie Rauch, community coordinator, sent Thanksgiving cards to members that have not been in attendance for a while. Other get-well cards were sent as needed. 60-year membership pins will be presented to eight members and 50year pins will be presented to six members.

Christmas party plans were finalized. The party will be on Sunday, Dec. 11 with a social beginning at 11 a.m. Food and party games will follow the meeting. Happy birthday was sung to Virgie Hall who has birthday on Nov. 29. December birthdays, Mary Rauch, Betty Porter, Leonard Meinkowsky and Jocie Braun were recognized. Happy anniversary to Bob and Betty Porter who celebrated 47 years on Nov. 22. Attendance prizes were won by Mary Rauch, Myrt Meinkowsky, Jeanette Schoenst, Virgie Hall. A big thank you to Lanna Limmer for the delicious sloppy joes and all who brought sides and desserts. January, February and March servers will be Floyd and Jocie Braun, Linda Mattocks, Virgie Hall and JoAnn and Ray Ullrich.
