Christmas Comes to Fayetteville
The last day to drop off gifts for Deputy Santa in our JP’s office located on the square at 109 North Washington is Monday, Dec. 18. The office is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Gifts should not be wrapped and are for children aged up to 12 years old. If you have any questions, call (979) 378-2573 or the Fayette County Sheriff’s office.

Students are celebrating Ho Ho Homecoming 2023 at Fayetteville ISD all week by donning funky fashions: Dec. 11 - ‘Twas the Night Before a Lion Victory...pajamas; Dec. 12 - ‘Tis the Season to be Ballin’...Sports Gear; Dec. I3 - We Wish You a Merry Swishmas...Rhyme without Reason; Dec. 14 - Dunk the Halls with Boughs of Holly...Christmas Sweaters, Hats, Socks, etc.
Dec. 15 - Holiday Hoopsters... Lions Spirit Gear.
Country Christmas
Santa and Mrs. Claus, caroling, a home tour, mov-ies, a lighted parade, decked out Christmas trees and lots more is going on this Saturday at The Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce Country Christmas celebration. Get your tickets for the home tour at Fayetteville Bank, The Grand Fayette Hotel, Orsak’s, Joe’s Place, Fayetteville Store and Circle C. Earn those bragging rights with holiday decor for the Fayetteville Country Christmas Home Lighting Contest. Chat with Santa in the old fire station from 4:30 until 8 p.m. He’ll take a break for the lighted parade that begins at 6 p.m. at the Grand Fayette Hotel. All are welcome to enter. Simply line up your lighted car, truck, ATV, boat or bike at 5:30 p.m. Shop till you drop in stores in the square and check out vendors all around the courthouse. A 10-point buck was shot on the Malota family farm in Fayetteville on Friday, Nov 24 by Travis Stockman of Bedias, son of Mike and Margie (Malota) Stockman. The widest spread measured 16 1/2. Unfortunately, a scale wasn’t present so weight was not taken.
Bake Sale
St. Mary’s Altar Society is serving up a Christmas Candy and Bake Sale this Saturday Dec. 9 beginning at 8 a.m. You can pick up homemade kolaches, cakes, candy, pies and cookies at St. Mary’s parish hall. Hot dogs and sandwiches will be sold beginning at 9 a.m. Raffle tickets will be sold and prizes awarded at 12 p.m.
Donation
St. John Catholic Church donated 10 percent of their funds from the annual St John Feast to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
Food Pantry
The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will be at St.
John on Wednesday, Dec. 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. This will no longer be a drive-thru food distribution. Clients will walk up to the entrance and are asked to bring bags or carts for pickup.
Picking Park
A group of bluegrass enthusiasts are pickin’ again this Saturday in the square. All levels of pickers are welcome to continue the tradition of live, acoustic bluegrass jamming. Play begins between 2-3 p.m.
Fayetteville Brethren
Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9-9:45 a.m.
