Chamber Music Coming To Our Community
The Fayette County Record is pleased to announce the establishment of a new non-profit chamber music organization: the Colorado Valley Chamber Players (CVCP). Co-founded by pianist Miles Gillette-Bockhorn and flutist Isabelle Jamois, CVCP seeks to serve and inspire the people of the lower Colorado River basin by providing the region with increased access to the art of chamber music.
Miles’ roots run deep in the history of our community. He was named after his greatgrandfather, Miles Moss, a prominent attorney from La Grange who served as the assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Texas and was a founding member of the La Grange Rotary Club. He is also a descendant of Peter Carl Johann von Rosenberg, a lieutenant in the Prussian cavalry and a pioneer of Texas.
Jamois, who grew up in San Diego and now lives in Houston, brings a decidedly French touch to her repertoire selection and a joie de vivre to her playing style. Fluent in French, she recalls her many trips to Paris growing up and hearing her grandfather sing on French radio.
As recent graduates of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, both Miles and Isabelle have access to a rich trove of accomplished musicians who will soon serve as core members of the ensemble. “Houston has, without a doubt, one of the best arts scenes in the country. The talent level is so high, and the opportunities for growth are huge. We’re both grateful for our time at the Shepherd School and all the great musical connections it’s given us,” said Jamois.
For Miles, the founding of CVCP serves as a sort of homecoming. “It means a lot to be able to give back to the community that’s helped shape who I am today. I grew up in Fayette County, so I’ve known for years how supportive this community is of the arts. The work Mr. James Dick has done with the Round Top Festival Institute has been remarkable, and it has been such an inspiration to me as I begin my own professional music career,” said Miles.
The opening concert of the 2026 season will take place at St. James Episcopal Church on May 31 at 3 p.m. The concert will be free – a gift to the community from the Players. Seating is open, so please arrive early. There will be a meet-the-artists reception after the concert.
The First CVCP concert will be Sunday, May 31 at 3 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church across from the H-EB. For more information, call (979) 968-3910, or visit www. stjameslagrange.org.
