This Sunday, March 8 from 2-5 p.m., get your dancing shoes on for a Polka Dance featuring the band Polka Friends presented by the Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce. It takes place at the Fayetteville Community and Performance Theater in the square. The band consists of Duane Wavra, Donnie Wavra, Robert Herridge, Ella B, Allison Crowson and Rick Weiss. This is. Fayetteville EDC 

The Fayetteville Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) will meet on Wednesday, Mar 11. All are welcome to attend. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month beginning at 7 p.m.

Blood Drive 

We Are Blood, the sole nonprofit blood center for Central Texas, has sent an urgent message: “Following this weekend’s tragic shooting in downtown Austin, We Are Blood is calling for immediate donations. Over 150 blood products have already been dispatched to local hospitals to treat the injured. As our community mourns, we must pull together,” says CEO Marian Garrard. “Right now, that means donating blood to help victims fighting to recover.” Local first responders (APD, AFD, and ATCEMS) join this plea, reminding us how precious life is and urging the community to help replenish this life-saving resource.”

There is an immediate need for O Positive and O Negative blood. The closest location for residents in Fayetteville and surrounding cities is the Giddings Public Library in Giddings. Book your appointment at weareblood. org/donor.

Easter Egg Hunt 

The Easter Bunny will be hopping into town for the Fayetteville Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m. Bounce around in a bounce house, enjoy hot dogs, drinks, snow cones and prizes. Free will donations and bake sale items are appreciated. Call Sue Patterson at (714) 299-028 to contribute.

GLO Grant 

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) approved $107,839,660 in new regional mitigation funds to improve roads, water detention, drainage, and water and wastewater systems in 10 counties across Texas including three projects in Fayette County. The City of Fayetteville received $3,344,800 for water and wastewater improvements.

Fayetteville Museum 

The Fayetteville Museum will be open every Tuesday in March before the live music in the square so pop in and enjoy the town’s history. The museum undergoes continual improvements so donations are always welcome. Checks may be made to Fayetteville Museum and sent to P.O. Box 67, Fayetteville, TX 78940.

Remember that the museum can be opened any time by calling Bob McGowen at (832) 904-6290. Volunteers are always welcome to help extend visiting hours.

Mobile Food Pantry 

The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will be at St. John on Wednesday, March 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. Walk up to the entrance and bring bags or carts for pickup.

St. Paul Lutheran 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four Shared Lutheran Ministry churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. Services are also featured on KTIM 89.1 Sundays at noon.

St. John the Baptist Catholic St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.

Fayetteville Brethren 

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
