Celebrate Independence Day in Round Top
note, this was incorrect last week – it is taking place on Saturday this year. The event will have food trucks, live music by the Black Cat Choir, and a full bar by Ellis Motel. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs for the 9:15 p.m. fireworks show. Admission is $20 per vehicle. Proceeds benefit the Round Top Warrenton VFD. Saturday, July 6, celebrate Independence Day at Harmonie Hall. Doors open at 7 p.m., and Risky Liver Band will play from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $12 cash at the door. The bar will be open for drinks and set-ups, and the kitchen will be serving hamburgers. It’s time again for the annual Round Top Fourth of July parade. The “longest continuously running parade west of the Mississippi” begins with the blasting of the civil warera cannon at 10:30 a.m.
Afterwards, the Round Top Rifle Hall will be serving BBQ, have live music, and an exciting raffle. Please take note – due to the impending Fourth of July celebrations at the Hall, there will not be a Hamburger Social on Monday, July 1. The socials will take place on Monday, July 8 and Monday, July 15.
The Stone Cellar is hosting a Fourth of July Summer Bash with a Splash featuring music by the Black Cat Choir from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and Lee Miller from Howlin Waters from 5-9 p.m. Bring your swimsuits for lots of water fun.
Oak Bones, located at 2117 FM 1457 is hosting a Pool & Pop-Up Dinner with Chef Victor Hugo. The traditional grill-out after the parade will start at 4 p.m. Meal tickets are $40, and an Oakbones pool day pass is $40. There will also be pop-up dinners on July 5 and 6. The Compound’s 8th Annual Independence Day Spectacular will be Saturday, July 6 beginning at 6 p.m. Please each month.
Town Council
Regular Council Meeting dates are the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. Meetings are held at the Town Hall, located at 100 Main Street, unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend. Agendas are posted on this website at least seventy-two hours prior to the meeting time. Festival Hill
This week at Festival Hill, the Summer Music Concert continues. Saturday, June 29 features a Chamber Music Concert featuring Latin Voices from 1:30-2:30 p.m. A second Chamber Music Concert will be held from 3:30-4:45 p.m. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. is the Texas festival Orchestra Concert featuring the New York Classical Players. On Sunday, June 30 enjoy a Patriotic Concert in the Festival Concert Hall from 3-4:30 p.m.
The weekly lineup of “Master Class” performances, held in the Edythe Bates Old Chapel daily at 1:30 p.m., is as follows: Monday - Juliette Herlin, cello; Chen Zhao, violin; Tuesday - Chen Zhao, violin ; Wednesday – Interpretations for Music: Lessons for Life with Benjamin Zander; Thursday - Brett Deubner, viola.

Round Top Family Library The Library will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Yoga is held Mondays at 5 p.m., and Wednesdays at 9 a.m. Preschool Story Time is Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11 is “Texas Snakes.” This free event, beginning at 3 p.m. will feature Clint Pustejovsky, and several of his reptile friends. Saturday, July 13, is Family Game Day beginning at 10 a.m.
Church News
The ladies of Ruth Circle are asking the congregation to begin collecting plastic bottle caps from water or soda bottles, empty pill bottles with lids, aluminum pull tabs (poptops), and glasses and glasses cases. Collection containers will be set up on the kitchen counter in the education building.
All members of Crossroads Shared Lutheran Ministry are asked to consider becoming a volunteer for either second Chance in La Grange, AMEN Food Pantry, or the Waldeck Food Truck.
