Celebrate Independence Day in Muldoon July 2
This year, Muldoon will celebrate Independence Day on Saturday, July 2. The day will begin with a parade with line up at 9 a.m. at the Baptist Church. Be sure and have a spot along the route that will come cross over the railroad tracks at the Muldoon Mercantile building, and then proceed down FM 154 and round through the park. This gives everyone in the parade a chance to see everyone else in the parade.
Everyone is welcome to come participate in parade is welcome to come walk, ride, wheel or just saunter in celebration of our nation’s independence.
Following the parade there will be an action with items being sold to raise money for the upkeep and much needed maintenance of the park. There also will be a few select items sold to benefit the Muldoon Museum. Donated items are needed for the auction and in the past there have been baked goods, antiques, canned goods, garden bounties, and handmade items. This is a great cause and a fun auction.
A meal will be held with pulled pork sandwiches available for a free will donation. Everyone is invited to bring along a big side dish and dessert to share. It is sure to be fun.
Graduates UT
Harold and Virginia Boehnke are proud to announce the graduation of their granddaughter, Adrian Boehnke from the University of Texas in Austin with a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience. She is planning on attending Baylor School of Medicine starting this summer. Adrian is the daughter of Guy and Catherine Boehnke of Friendswood.
Out and About
Devon Boehnke, Dana and Darrell Kulak enjoyed a quick visit from Devon’s daughter and granddaughter, Beth Field and Erica who were in the area and stopped in for a visit. They were in from Magnolia.
Kathy Chlumsky slipped off for some summer grandkid watching in Austin. She went up to watch Olivia and Marcus while their parents, Summer and Ben had a night out at the soccer game.
Ron and Pam Knotts recently spent some time with their granddaughter, Keylee who was visiting from Arkansas. During her visit Ron and Pam got to catch up on all the plans for Keylee’s wedding this fall. The extravaganza seems to be getting bigger by the day and new ideas keep popping up. Also during her visit they got a chance to drive to Rockport for the day and to visit with Ron’s sister and brother in law, Terry and John Fuselier, who have their travel trailer set up there for the summer. Keylee was excited to meet John and Terry and hear of their travel adventures. The day was too windy to fish, so they toured the area and went for lunch at one of the local restaurants. After seeing so much of the new developments and new shopping areas, Ron and Pam are already making plans to return to Rockport later this summer.
Neighborhood Watch
Please keep a watchful eye out while out and about in the area. If you see anything strange or out of place going on please call your neighbor or the sheriff’s office. We all have to pull together to keep Muldoon safe and prevention is the key. After the mailbox damage and thefts recently, we definitely need to be aware of our surroundings and the comings and goings in the area. Get to know your neighbors and watch out for each other.
Road Work
Seal coat is being applied to FM 154. This is causing some traffic delays as they are laying materials. This will be nice when it’s done, but will cause some short term delays in the meantime. Be aware and plan in
