Christmas at Winedale is this weekend, Saturday, Dec. 9, from noon to 4 p.m. enjoy crafts and folklife demonstrations, music and theater performances, food and beverages, and more … all for free. Round Top-Carmine ISD The Winter Band Concert at Festival Hill will be Dec. 14 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Early release for Christmas break will be Friday, Dec. 15 at 12:30 p.m. Students will be out of school until Monday, Jan. 8. For sports information, visit the Carmine section of the newspaper.

Round Top Rifle Hall

Monday, December 4 was the final Monday Night Social for 2023. The Round Top Rifle Association thanks everyone for all their support throughout the year. The socials will resume in January. Round Top Family Library The Round Top Family Library offers several different free classes for a variety of ages throughout the week. Family Game Day is this weekend! Saturday, Dec. 9 from 2 to 5 p.m. The library provides the board games, all you have to do is bring the competitors! Parent or guardian must be present. Light snacks served.

Christmas Extravaganza The Round Top Family Library’s Christmas Extravaganza is Saturday, Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be Christmas treats, game booths, music, and Santa himself will be there for photos. This is free and open to the public. Contact the library if you would like to sponsor a booth.

Chili Cook-Off Now is the time to sign up for the Library’s 19th annual Chili Cook-Off scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 14 at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Apply online at ilovetoread.org or pick up an application at the library. This is a huge fundraiser for the library and always tons of fun.

Festival Hill

There are several great events coming up at Festival Hill over the next few weeks. The annual Sounds of the Season concert is Friday, Dec. 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. The Linda Patterson and Friends concert is Monday, Jan. 1, the Houston Jazz Orchestra performance is Saturday, Jan. 13, and Asleep At the Wheel will perform Saturday, Jan. 27.

The Round Top Town Council meetings are held the second Monday of the month at the Town Hall located at 100 Main Street unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend. Agendas are posted on the website at www.townofroundtop. org at least 72 hours prior to the meeting time.

Church News

St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Warrenton holds a monthly service at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the altar. The next Mass service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 12. View the bulletin online at stjohnfayetteville. com for more information.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church holds services with Pastor John David Nedbalek Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school is the first Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Ruth Circle is the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Sewing Circle is the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. Pastor John David leads adult bible study the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.

This month’s news: The monthly Church Council meeting will be Sunday, Dec. 10, following the service. Adult Bible Study for December has been cancelled. The Christmas program is scheduled for Dec. 10. There are no confirmation classes during the month of December; classes resume in January.

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby holds worship service at 8 a.m., followed by fellowship, coffee, and Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. Game Day is held the first Wednesday of each month from 2 to 4 p.m. Quilting meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m.

Sunday, Dec. 17 is the annual Christmas Caroling at the Historical Church across the road in Shelby. This is a wonderful evening for the whole family with Christmas music and treats following. Bring a flashlight and jacket or blanket, as there is no electricity in the old church.

Wednesday Advent services for St. Paul and Bethlehem Lutheran will be held at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church fellowship hall. A meal is served at 6 p.m., followed by the service at 7 p.m. All are welcome. The regularly scheduled morning church services at Bethlehem Lutheran and St. Paul’s will be held on Sunday, Dec. 24 to celebrate the fourth Sunday in Advent. A Christmas Eve vigil service will be held in Round Top at 11 p.m. Sunday evening with Holy Communion and the annual candle lighting ceremony. There will be no service on Christmas Day at either BLC or St. Paul.

St. Cecilia’s Round Top Episcopal Church holds services with Father Bill Miller Sundays at 8:45 and 10:45 a.m. in the historic Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square. For more information, please visit the website at www.StCecilias. org.
