CDA No. 1962 Meets Feb. 27
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas No. 1962 held their monthly meeting on Monday, Feb. 27.
Regent Shirley Antosh opened the meeting with prayer followed by the CDA Opening Ode and pledges. To begin the meeting, a Lenten Reflection was presented, which was based on scripture from the Gospel of Matthew.
The minutes were read and approved as read; the treasurer’s report was approved as presented. Local correspondence was shared, the reading of the bills was given, and all were updated on current membership. Leadership Chairman Laurie Janda was thanked for organizing the CDA Lenten Stations of the Cross on Friday, Feb. 24. Those who participated and attended are appreciated. Peggy Supak reported on JCDA activities and encouraged those interested in reading to children to volunteer for the PLAT (Promoting Literacy Across Texas) activity. Regent Antosh updated members about the 53rd Biennial Catholic Daughters of the Americas Texas State Convention at Moody Gardens in Galveston from April 26-30. Delegates and alternates have been elected from our court and many plans are underway.
Articles for the Newsletter are due by April 19 and the 57th Anniversary and Family Dinner set for Sunday, June 4. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m. Sergeant Angela Lala with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office will be the speaker and will speak on self-defense.
After the closing prayer, Closing Ode and door prizes, Regent Antosh adjourned the meeting.
