The Catholic Daughters of the Americas No. 1962 held their monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 24. The meeting was opened with prayer followed by the CDA Opening Ode and pledges. The charter was draped during the meeting in honor of our deceased member, Angie Kleiber, who passed away on Sept. 30, at the age of 87. She was a member for almost 40 years.

Since October is Respect Life Month, items were collected prior to the meeting for the Bethlehem Maternity Home in Victoria. All donations were greatly appreciated.

We welcome new member Stephanie Kates to CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962. She pledged her membership this evening by repeating the pledge given by Regent Shirley Antosh. The minutes were read and approved as corrected; the treasurer’s report was approved as presented.

The annual CDA Candlelight Rosary was held on Wednesday evening on Oct. 12 at Sacred Heart Church. Many CDA members along with CYM students recited the rosary together in a beautiful ceremony. Thank you to all who were able to attend.

On Saturday Oct. 15 at noon, the CDA court participated in the America Needs Fatima Rosary Rally on the Square with Queen of the Holy Rosary CDA Court (Hostyn).

The National Catholic Daughters Day was observed on Sunday, Oct. 16 at Sacred Heart Church at the 9 a.m. Mass. Father Brian Phillips, Court Chaplain, celebrated the Mass. New members pledged at the Mass were Suzanne Peschke, Erin Supak, and Caitlin Urban. We extend a warm welcome to all of our new members. Refreshments were served after Mass.

Plans were made to raise awareness of the dangers of pornography in today’s society. The WRAP (White Ribbon Against Pornography) will be observed Oct. 31-Nov.6.

Legislation Chairman Sherry Hebert reminded all about the importance of voting and being informed.

Members were reminded of the CDA Pork Steak Drive-Thru on Thursday, Nov. 3 at the KC Hall.

Susan Kaspar reminded all of the Annual KC and CDA Memorial Service and Mass remembering all the faithful departed members of the La Grange, Hostyn, and Plum KC & CDA Courts was held in Plum on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.

Plans are underway for the CDA Christmas Raffle and KC/ CDA Christmas Party on Sunday, Dec. 4, as well as Cookies for the Homebound. More information to come.

In New Business, the Financial Review report was given by Susan Kaspar. The audit was done prior to the meeting and all books were found in order. Thank you to committee members Susan Kaspar, Gailynne Zapalac, Linda Gaddes, Donna Faldyn, Katie Swafford, and Mary Lou Anderle.

After the closing prayer by Vice Regent Monica Heine, Spiritual Enhancement State Chairman Mary Lou Anderle led the CDA closing prayer. Regent Shirley Antosh then adjourned the meeting.
