Casino Night Saturday in Carmine

Casino Night Magic will be held this Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Carmine Hall, beginning at 6 p.m. It is sponsored by the Carmine Chamber of Commerce.

R.Verotti will provide a professional magic show for entertainment. A chickenfried- steak meal, cooked by Gary, will be served.

Round Top-Carmine Elementary School Back to School night is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 8 from 5:306:30 p.m. The High School Welcome Walk will be on Monday, Aug. 12 from 5-6 p.m. Classes begin on Aug. 14.

Teachers have work days on August 5 and 13. Professional development days are planned for August 6-12.

The policy for providing free and reduced-price meals is available for children at RT-C. Eligibility will be determined by income and family size. Beginning Aug. 14, letters will be distributed to households of the children in the district about eligibility benefits. The Round Top-Carmine ISD, in cooperation with the Burton Special Services Cooperative, will screen children who will be 3 and 4 years-old before Sept. 1, 2024 (and live in the school district) for the Early Childhood Program on Aug. 7 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the elementary school in Round Top. Funeral Serving Committee 

The funeral serving committees of Martin Luther Lutheran Church will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. All members of the groups are invited to attend this annual meeting for discussion and recommendations.

MLLC News 

Worship Committee meets Tuesday at 6 p.m.

RT-C Teacher breakfast is Thursday at 8 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Rebekah Group meets Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building.

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

A wedding is Saturday afternoon.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion observing the Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy communion is at 10 a.m. with the Praise Team leading songs. The Noisy Offering will be collected with the proceeds going to the Cajun Navy.

Meals on Wheels 

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250AugsburgAve. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

Visitors’ Center 

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Recyclilng Trailer 

The recycling trailer is in Carmine on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carmine Hall.

Accepted are clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic bottles and jugs. Please separate them. Numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics are not accepted. They do not take plastic bags.
