Carolyn Caflisch, Granddaughter Travel to Europe
Carolyn Caflisch was finally able to take her eighth grandchild, Marion Goberg on the much anticipated high school graduation trip that had to be postponed due to COVID. Marion is from Harrison, Ark., now attending Mississippi State University.
Together they traveled to London where they spent time with those who were preparing for the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. Their visit included Oxford where they met up with summer student friends from Mississippi State; Stratford on Avon, and Warwick Castle. Other tours included the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace and Westminster Abby.
Since both of the ladies are Mayflower descendents, they had to go have dinner at the Mayflower Pub. They topped that with a visit to Harrods for lunch with a family friend. They made good use of the Oyster visitor card, then EuroStar Chunneled to Paris.
In Paris the girls visited Versalle, Fontainbleau and Vaux de Vicomte Chateaux, Lourve, Arch de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Sainte Chapelle and topped it all off with the Crazy Horse Cabaret!
All in all a wonderful trip that Carolyn clocked many steps, miles, and flights of stairs on her watch. What great memories were made.
Graduations
Jennifer and Clay Rightmer attended the graduation ceremony of her nephew, Zach Zavalla from Georgetown High School. They were joined at the service by daughter Lane Rightmer and Jennifer’s dad, Will Howard. It was nice for the family to get a chance to see each other again and catch up for such a wonderful occasion.
Nancie Blair traveled to Fort Worth for the graduation of her great nephew, Jack Riddell’s high school graduation. This gave Nancie a chance to catch up and visit with her mom, Elaine Lang, and her sister Lu Ginapp.
Out and About
Devon Boehnke, Dana and Darrell Kulak enjoyed a Memorial Day weekend visit from Devon’s daughter and son in law, Beth and Jack Field of Magnolia. They got lots of work done including baling hay.
Rain
Wednesday saw a little rain in the area. As much as a half inch was reported in the Muldoon area. Some areas got more than others, but is seems that everyone got just a little moisture. Any and all rain is welcome right now as temperatures are rising and the summer heat is beginning to start.
Speed Reunion
If you are related to the Tom, Frank or Bob Speed family come on out on Saturday, June 11, to the 73rd Speed family reunion at the Muldoon Mercantile starting at 10 a.m. The Speed family has been in Muldoon for generations and proudly celebrates their family by coming together and checking out old pictures of times gone by.
A potluck meal will be held with tea, plates, napkins and silverware being supplied. Following will be the always fun door prize drawing from the great donations brought to share with family members.
Moved
Since the Wottlin property has been sold, Bruce and Maria Wottlin, and son Clinton have moved to Flatonia. Bruce and Maria have been sweet community members and will be sorely missed, but luckily they will be close by.
Neighborhood Watch
Be sure to be on alert as summer comes on. If you see something odd at your neighbor’s place, give them a call and check on them. While they might have company, they also may have some unwanted people on their property. If we all work together to keep a watchful eye out for our friends and neighbors we can keep the Muldoon area safe.
