Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Firemen’s Feast Set July 20
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular monthly meeting is June 26 at 6 p.m.
July 20 is the date for the Firemen’s Feast and Fundraiser. A fried chicken meal will be served for drive-through only. Tickets will be sold for a drawing.

Carmine Lions Club
New officers were installed at the Carmine Lions Club meeting on June 3, which was held at the Windmill Ranch Lodge.
Officers include: Lisa Mayer, president; Jamie Odom, first vice-president; Diane Wied, second vicepresident; David Kieke, third vice-president; Marie Loewe, secretary/treasurer; Ronnie Eckert, tail twister; Monty Mayer, Buck Odom, and Dan Grabsky, directors; Ricky Weyand, membership chairman; Claire Mayer Zapalac, club administrator; and Marlene Waak, past president.

Administrative offices are open through Aug. 3 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Offices will be closed for the Fourth of July holiday June 30 - July 4.
Sympathy
Sympathy is extended to two area families.
Thomas Menn passed away on May 27 in Houston. He grew up in the Carmine area and worked as a Chemical Engineer for many years in the Houston area. Tom was elected as a prestigious national American Institute of Chemical Engineers Fellow. His funeral service was held on May 27 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church with burial at the Mayer Cemetery.
Rebekah Mayer passed away on June 5 in an automobile accident. Her graveside service was held June 10 at the Mayer Cemetery, with fellowship following at Martin Luther Lutheran Church. Becca was a dedicated school teacher and had served as Executive Director of the Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation.
Bingo
The next Bingo at the Carmine Hall will be held on Friday, July 18. This is a change from the original schedule. Doors open at 4 p.m. and games begin at 6 p.m. Twelve regular and two cover-all games will be played.
It is located at 300 N. Hauptstrasse in Carmine. Food and drinks are available.
MLLC Rebekah Group
The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met on June 12 with nine members present. They were Susan Ray, Diana Wunderlich, Joann Ullrich, Leonita Sanders, Dianna Gerland, Sedalia Ullrich, Joys Baird, Colette Wunderlich, and Nancy Eilers.
The Bible Study was led by D. Wunderlich with the theme, “Where two or more are gathered: Flourishing in Relationships; Session One: Relationships that form us.”
The business meeting was called to order by President Susan Ray.
D. Wunderlich reported for Mission Action. Sanders took 20 fleece blankets to CASA. There are currently 29 quilts ready to be packed for Lutheran World Relief. Since very few fabric kits are sent to LWR, discussion will be held at the next WELCA General Meeting whether or not to continue.
S. Ullrich reported for Mission Community. Plans for the birthday party at Jefferson Place in La Grange were finalized for June 20 at 2:30 p.m.
Baird reported for Mission Growth. Forty-one members and guests were present for the Women of the ELCA salad supper and program on June 4. The guest speaker, Jane Press, gave an interesting program on “The Flag.”
The funeral serving groups will meet on Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. Vacation Bible School is June 22-26 with closing program on Sunday, June 29 Matt Kindsvatter, of Lutherhill, will lead the worship service on Aug. 17, along with the blessing of backpacks.
RT-C Baccalaureate was held at MLLC on May 15.
A Memorial Day service, sponsored by the Carmine EDC and Quade-Werchan Post 338 American Legion was held in the MLLC sanctuary on May 26.
A Gospel Music program was on June 16 at St. John United Church of Christ in Burton at 7 p.m.
The following officers were elected by acclamation: J. Ullrich, vice-president; Eilers, secretary; Gerland, treasurer; and D. Wunderlich, mission action.
The group is collecting cancelled postage stamps, which are sent to Stamps for the Wounded. Leave onefourth to one-half-inch space around the stamps.
MLLC WELCA will host the Western Cluster Fall Happening in September.
Eilers gave the Offering Meditation.
Birthday celebrants were S. Ullrich and Joyce Fuchs.
Hostesses were C. Wunderlich and Gerland.
Carmine Chamber
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce 2025 Casino Night will be held on Aug. 9. The theme is “Casino Night 007” and will be at the Carmine Hall beginning at 6 p.m.
A table sponsorship is $500 and includes eight meals, beverages, wine, promotion at event, and playing chips. Individual tickets are $65. For tables and tickets, call or text Courtney at (512) 983-1115 or Marlene at (979) 451-1507. Reserve tickets by July 25.
A chicken-fried steak meal by Gary Goebel will be served. Portions of the proceeds will benefit the Carmine Hall renovation.
MLLC News
Vacation Bible School continues until Thursday.
Senior Citizens meal pickup and dominoes is Wednesday from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
AA meets Saturday from 8:30 - 9:30 in the Mission and Ministry Building.
Worship with Holy Communion is Sunday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Bonnie Parker serving as the guest pastor. Vacation Bible School closing is during the worship service.
Recycle Trailer
The recycling trailers are at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from 1 - 4 p.m.
Clean milk cartons should be kept separate from the other No. 2 plastics. They also accept clean No. 1 plastic bottles and jugs. Note that numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics and plastic bags are not accepted.
Also accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.
