Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Feast and Fundraiser Slated July 21

    Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Feast and Fundraiser Slated July 21

The Firemen’s Feast and Fundraiser will be on July 21. Fried chicken plates will be served drive-thru only at the Carmine Hall from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. or until sold out. Desserts and sausage links will also be available. A drawing will be held the same day.

Donations will be accepted as payment for the meal.

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is on July 11 at 7 p.m.

Casino Night Magic! 

Carmine Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Casino Night Magic! on Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Carmine Hall. It begins at 6 p.m.

There will be a professional magic show by R.Verotti. A chicken-fried-steak meal will be served by Gary.

Tables sponsorships are on sale for $500. Call or text (512) 983-1115 or (979) 4511507 to reserve a table, which includes eight meals, beverages, wine, promotion at event, and playing chips. Individual tickets are $65 and include playing chips.

Rebekah Group Meets 

The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met on June 13 in the Mission and Ministry Building. The seven members present were Joann Ullrich, Sharon Rhome, Sedalia Ullrich, Joys Baird, Diana Wunderlich, Nancy Eilers, and Dianna Gerland.

Diana Wunderlich led the Bible study with the theme “After Certainty: A Biblical Guide; Session 1: Curiosity.”

The business meeting was called to order by Joann Ullrich, Vice-President, and the Purpose and Mission Statements were recited.

The quilting group met on June 10.

The group is still trying to make arrangements to have nursing home and assisted living facilities parties.

About 30 people attended the Salad Supper on June 5. Joys Baird is working on getting a speaker for the Thankoffering service in November.

It was reported that the WELCA TX-LA Gulf Coast Synod is asking units not to send money to them. We will keep the money from the quarterly offering in the checking account until we find out where to send the portion sent to the synod in the past.

The WELCA Unit will meet on July 11 at 1 p.m.

Funeral serving group chairpersons meet August 21.

The following officers for the years 2025 & 2026 were elected: President, Susan Ray; Mission Community, Sedalia Ullrich; and Mission Growth, Joys Baird.

It was decided to give $500 to Vacation Bible School for T-shirts.

Birthday celebrants for June are Sedalia Ullrich and Joyce Fuchs. The group sang Happy Birthday.

Nancy Eilers gave the offering meditation.

The group prayed the Lord’s Prayer and sang the table prayer.

Round Top-Carmine ISD Administrative offices will be closed for the Fourth of July holiday July 3 to 7.

After July 7, they will again be open until August 3 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Lutheran Church 

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion observing the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy communion is at 10 a.m.

Quilting is Monday at 9 a.m.

The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Visitors’ Center 

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Recycling Trailer 

The recycling trailer is in Carmine on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carmine Hall.

Accepted are clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic bottles and jugs. Please separate them. Numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics are not accepted. They do not take plastic bags.

Also accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.

Meals on Wheels 

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.
