Carmine Neighbors Enjoy Night Out Oct. 5
Carmine Night Out was held on Oct. 5 at the Carmine Fire Station.
The Quade-Werchan American Legion Post 338 led the Flag Retirement Ceremony with Bruce Bockhorn as leader. The four RT-C 4-H participants were Pyper Albrecht, Lylah Robertson, Morgan Williams and Bowen Williams.
Everyone enjoyed grilled hot dogs served by members of the Carmine Lions Club. The rest of the meal and a coupon for all children to get a free ice cream for the R & R Shaved Ice truck were all donated by Carmine Chamber of Commerce. Carmine Volunteer Fire Department provided the drinks and did a great job of setting up the fire station for all of the activities.
On this beautiful evening, outdoor games were enjoyed by the children of all ages as they were present for a 4-H meeting and an FFA meeting.
Speakers included Jamie Moreau, Justice of the Peace; Wade Eilers, Mayor of Carmine; Ricky Weyand, Carmine Lions Club president; Marlene Waak, Carmine Chamber of Commerce president; Tom Drummond, Carmine Hall representative; David Mohr, Carmine Fire Dept.; Pastor David Tinker, pastor of Martin Luther Lutheran Church; Diane Tovey, RT-C 4-H leader; Eric Schatte, RT-C FFA sponsor; and RaChelle Kuecker, RT-C High School Principal.
The chamber appreciates all the attendees, especially those from surrounding neighborhoods. It was a wonderful evening of camaraderie where more neighbors got to know each other.
RT-Carmine School News RT-C Jr. High, JV and varsity volleyball teams defeated Waelder on Oct. 3. JV and varsity defeated McDade on Oct. 6.
On Oct. 17, Jr. High, JV and Varsity host Prairie Lea at 4 p.m. It will be Dig Pink and Childhood Cancer Night. Varsity hosts Waelder on Oct. 20 at 4:30 p.m.
Oct. 23 is a student holiday and Professional Development Day.
The Fall Festival will be on Oct. 28 at the elementary school.
Custodial Appreciation Day was observed Oct. 6. Larry was celebrated by the school as they are grateful for all that he does.
Students in Mrs. Wischnewsky’s English II class created children’s books with pictures that Mrs. Krause’s kindergartners drew. They then went to the elementary school to read and share their stories.

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
A burn ban continues to be in effect for Fayette County.

42 Club
The Carmine 42 Club met on Oct. 4 at JW’s Steakhouse. After eating a delicious lunch, 8 intriguing games of 42 were played.
High scoring partners were LaVerne Albers and Donna Mueller with a score of 1839 and they played 2 hands of 84. The second highest scoring partners were Jeanette Schoenst and Linda Mattocks with a score of 1667 and they played two hands of 84 and one hand of 126. Partners Myrt Meinkowsky and Carol Naegeli played two hands of 84. Also enjoying the games were Avalda Pohl and Marlene Waak.
Everyone enjoyed the conversations and good times! These players are ready for more games on Nov. 1.
Antique Show
The Carmine Dance Hall Antique Show is scheduled for Oct. 20 through 25. Preview is Oct. 20 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Hours on October 21 through 24 are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. On the last day, Oct. 25, hours are 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. It is located at 300 N Hauptstrasse in Carmine.

Meals on Wheels
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.
Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9 to 11:30 a.m.
Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and is for pick-up only until 11:30 a.m. There are 5 meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

Visitor’s Center
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open only on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Recycle Trailer
The Recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Accepted are clean no. 1 and no. 2 plastic (please separate them and take note that no. 5 plastics are not accepted), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans. The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
