Carmine Lions Welcome New Member

The Carmine Lions Club inducted a new member on April 8 at their meeting at the Windmill Lodge. District Governor Lion Julius Bartek was the guest speaker and inducted Debbie Grabsky as the newest member into the club.

The volunteers for the MS 150 bike ride were reminded that the hours are 6-10 a.m. at the Carmine State Bank parking lot.

There are still seats available for the bus trip to the Texas Lions Camp on June 20. The cost for the meal has been changed to $25 per person.

Fundraiser for Craig Cook A fundraiser is being held for Craig Cook for his major medical expenses and recovery due to cancer.

Donations may be made to the Craig Cook Medical Expense Fund at Carmine State Bank. The donations may be made in person or by mailing a check to Carmine State Bank, P.O. Box 341, Carmine, TX 78932.

High school baseball team hosts Burton on April 25 at 5 p.m. It will be senior appreciation day.

Congratulations to the RT-C girl’s golf team for placing fourth at the Regional Golf Tournament on April 15 and 16. Members include Avery Nelius, Angie LeBouef, Makayla Smith, Alin Soto, and Jessica Rohde.

State bound are Angie Le-Bouef who placed fourth individual and Avery Nelius, who placed eighth individual.

Congratulations to the girls 4x200m relay team who placed third at regionals. Running were Jill Eilers, Tess Eilers, Makayla Smith, and Bree Dooley Looking ahead, May 12 is a student holiday and staff development day.

Carmine VFD 

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department meets April 24 for drill night at 6 p.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion at Martin Luther Lutheran Church is at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Bonnie Parker leading the service. Sunday School is at 9 a.m.

Seven young students received their First Holy Communion on Maundy Thursday, April 17. They were Jaelynn Ahrens, Kellen Bishop, Ida Schoenst, Kannon Jacob, Kyler Jacob, Presley Lange, and Jaycie Pohl.

Senior Citizens meal pick-up and domino party is Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building.

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Martin Luther Lutheran Church will not have a service in Carmine this Sunday. Members are invited to attend Bethlehem Lutheran Church at the Round Top Rifle Hall under the pavilion at 10 a.m. for their worship service. Following the service, members will have their annual fried chicken meal.

Visitors’ Center 

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot and Museum is open on the second Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. It is located at 248 E Sylvan, Carmine, TX 78932, which is on the south side of Highway 290.

More docents are needed. Come work any hours you choose. Contact Diana Wunderlich at (979) 277-4613 if interested.
