Carmine Lions Club Welcomes New Members

The Carmine Lions Club met Feb. 11 at the Firemen’s Annex.

Two new members were installed at the February meeting. Mark Odom III was sponsored by Jamie Odom and Dan Grabsky was sponsored by David Kieke.

Volunteers are needed to work the MS 150 bike ride, which will come through Carmine on April 27. The hours will be 6-10 a.m. at the Carmine State Bank parking lot.

The Little Library at the Carmine City Park is needing books for small children age 2 through Kindergarten and also for adults.

The bus trip to the Texas Lions Camp is planned for June 20. The only cost will be the meal, which is $35 per person, including the tip. Seats are reserved on a first come basis. Bus leaves from Giddings in the morning and returns after the evening meal.

RT-C School News 

Round Top-Carmine high school baseball team plays at Milano on March 18. Jr. High team plays before the game at 4:30 p.m. High School hosts Milano on March 21 at 5 p.m.

High School athletes will participate in the Fayetteville Invitational track meet on March 20.

Maintenance Appreciation Day was observed on March 7. The school is very thankful for the services that Mr. Beck provides.

A new early-release day has been added to the calendar. The UIL meet will be held at RT-C on March 24, and classes will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. that day.

Looking ahead, March 28 will be a school holiday and a Professional Development day.

Carmine VFD 

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is March 27 at 6 p.m. at the fire station.

Bingo in Carmine 

Bingo in Carmine will be held on Friday, March 28 at the Carmine Hall, located at 300 N. Hauptstrasse. Doors open at 4 p.m. and games begin at 6 p.m.

Twelve regular games and two cover-all games will be played. Food and drinks will be available.

Carmine 42 Domino Club The Carmine 42 Domino Club met on March 5 at JW’s Steakhouse. After a delicious lunch, eight competitive games of 42 were played. The partners were determined by drawing for positions at tables.

High scoring partners were Edith Flinn and Marlene Waak with a score of 1947 and they played two hands of 84. The partners scoring second highest were Avalda Pohl and Jeanette Schoenst with a score of 1864. Linda Mattocks and Betty Porter played one hand of 84. Carol Naegeli and Myrt Meinkowsky played one hand of 84 and one hand of 126.

Everyone enjoyed the challenging games and pleasant conversations. They will meet again on April 2.

MLLC News 

Lenten service will be held at Round Top Wednesday at 7 p.m. A meal will be served at 6 p.m.

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

The Carmine Sunday Worship with Holy Communion, observing the Third Sunday in Lent, is at 10 a.m.

Visitors’ Center 

Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot and Museum is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The next dates are March 7 and 8.

Birthdays
